check out http://www.imdb.com, type in paul hester and read the bio of paul, it is quite simply awful, it made my blood boil

And who is this James Briggs character that seems to know exactly what went on in Paul's mind for more than 20 years? What is his authority to write something like this?

That is truly appalling. It's not even presented as the writer's personal opinion. Maybe Paul's family's lawyer, or Neil's for that matter, should take a look at it.

If you think Paul's is bad read the bios for Nick, Neil and Tim. Apparently Neil is 5'10" and gave up a career in hospital administration to join Split Enz! I wonder if this guy has ever been a real fan,where does he get his ideas from? Also whilst his bio of Neil is not overly critical in Nick's he accuses Neil of "cruel mind games". Tim it seems had no success without help from either Neil or Greta and Nick is in his brother's shadow. But I suppose what he has to say about Paul is most offensive to me. I don't suppose for a minute that there were never personality clashes and musical differences within the band but if Neil had made the other guys life so awful I'm sure they'd have told him to shove it. This guy displays no understanding or empathy for Pauls illness. He was a lovely warm guy, so funny and a great drummer who sadly couldn't live with his condition. James Briggs you should be ashamed of yourself.

I have just read all four biographies (if you can call them that!), and I am absolutely stunned. Who does this guy think he is? And what did Neil ever do to him that made him hate him so much?
I don't know where on earth he got his information from, or what inspired him to write this crap in the first place. It is just awful!
And apart from anything else, he can't spell, his grammer and punctuation are awful and the whole thing sounds as if it was written by a 12 year-old!
Do yourselves a favour... don't read it!

This James Briggs guy is obviously a complete moron. Would love to know who he is and why he thinks he knows anything about any of our boys. Obviously he has a problem with Neil.

The problem with IMDB is that the content is usually contributed by readers. Much like Wikipedia used to be. There is no fact-checking.

It's worth a try though to send in complaints and comments. I know the "moderators" of the site do read those complaints, as I've had responses to the ones I've sent in in the past.

It's a shame... Paul (and all the boys) deserve so much better than that.

I am going to take the advice of some wise people in this thread and NOT read the questionable and ?sensationalised biographies higlighted above.

It makes me angry just thinking about it let alone reading it.

Let's hope that one day we will have a reputable, factual and widely accepted biography about Paul...he deserves that.

The only thing I can agree with is this:

"he lived a short yet brilliant life."


As for the rest- the less said about it the better, and the more complaints about it, the better too!

Really?? I was just about to go on there to have a go at them about this! I have been absolutely fuming since I read it yesterday. I'm not experienced on there at all, only saw it for the first time yesterday, so I obviously don't have the privilege either.
That's a real shame, 'cos I would have loved to have given them a piece of my mind!

imdb.com is a very high profile entertainment site. I'd heard of it before (and have used it!), but there was an article about it in yesterday's NY Times. It says that imdb.com is the 10th most popular entertainment site online, with 18.6 million unique visitors per month.

I hate to see this kind of scathing stuff regarding Paul and Neil on such a high profile site.

Perhaps the boys and a representative for Paul (His family at least) could go this idiot for slander?

Of course I had to read this. This is just shocking crap. If this is a reader driven website...can't someone do another bio? One in which the writer doesn't pretend to have had a ringside seat inside Paul's brain?

I had to laugh at the "Neil left a career in hospital administration" bit. That's just too hilarious.

Especially since he admitted that he never really worked there, they just forgot to take him off the payroll!!
