Something So Strong

I've recently heard tracks from TOE played here in the UK in one of the big elecrical retail outlets and also on an internal flight with Delta in the US. Hearing CH anywhere unexpectedly still makes me smile widely, but it's also been so good to find that it's been the new material getting the exposure, I like to think that bodes well for the future and more folks finding this great music.

Any other unexpected experiences?

When I first heard Don't Stop Now at New World Supermarket that was unexpected. But now I hear a Crowded House song every day, cause I work at New World Supermarket. It always catches my attention even when I'm really busy. I also sometime hear Split Enz, Tim Finn and Girls cover verion.
It put a smile on my face when I'm working.

Ha, that reminds me, I heard a muzak-y version of "I Hope I Never" in the dentists office last year. That was unexpected (this is in California, too, which only makes it more unlikely).

The other instance, and it's already been posted in this forum, is DDIO appearing in an episode of "American Dad". Funny episode, too.

Like California, Hungary is an unlikely place in itself to hear Crowded House. Apart from their Central European hits (DDIO and WWY), and occasionally the odd FAYF and ION in supermarkets, not a lot of exposure. But recently the hot new nationwide radio station that all my friends listen to (something like "adult alternative" in the US) had She Called Up on heavy airplay. And by heavy, I mean several times a day, maybe even every 2 hours! I admit to tipping them off about the new album when it came out, but this was unexpected and particularly nice Smiler

I just got back from the compound chemist on Queen Street and they played Even A Child on the in-store radio. I have also heard Nobody Wants To in the Body Shop and a couple of EIH b sides in the surf shop Smiler

A couple of weeks ago I heard Help is Coming while having lunch at Wow Bao. It's not unusual to hear DDIO on random restaurant or store playlists, but a b-side is unheard of!

On Thursday I heard "Don't Dream It's Over" on a local political radio show that was discussing the sad event of John Edwards's withdrawal from the US Presidential race. First time I've ever heard CH on this station, and they play a lot of relevant-lyric songs to intro their segments. Unfortunately, the campaign *is* over.

My in-laws just got back from a long vacation and reported that they heard a Neil song IN CAMBODIA.

It turned out their driver to Angkor Wat was a Kiwi.

Is there a link to that video somewhere??

anyway, I heard Now We're Getting Somewhere being blasted over the sound system at Galactic Circus in Crown Casino. Awful place but at least they have some sort of taste in music

"Don't Stop Now" in a Tim Horton's coffee shop in Oshawa, Ontario. Very surprising for a large chain restaurant, especially as I don't think the new album got any airplay in Canada.

Made me smile over my double double.

I heard "Nobody Wants To" while eating breakfast at Bob Evans this morning. I love having those unexpected CH moments in my day!

I heard "Fall At Your Feet" in Macy's whilst shopping for housewares. I'm not entirely sure how unusual a place that is, but it was a pleasant surprise.

Yesterday, I was surprised to hear "She Called Up" at the Gap. I felt a odd sense of duty to buy the sweater I was trying on at the time -- luckily I quite liked it.

Whew, it's a good thing that kind of response hasn't run amok among the frenz. Chris might have ended up with a set of snow tires. Wink

I heard "Something So Strong" while grocery shopping today...a nice bright spot in an otherwise mundane activity! Smiler

Whenever that song comes on, whatever else I'm doing and whoever may be around, you will always hear me chime in AT LEAST just a little on the:

"I've been"
"frame me!"
"I've seen"
"this thing"

It's a compulsion.
