Wow, that Italian cover/ripoff video was hilarious. Really weird and funny.

I agree... thanks for posting, double-h! One of the weirdest things I've seen on youtube in a while... thought I'd post a translation of the lyrics I found since not everyone understand italian... and from what I understood, the translation seems to be mostly correct. Of course, remember that literal translations (like this one) don't always make the most sense... read on.

Desert freeway, to the borders of the sea
I feel the heart stronger than this motor
Cigarettes never extinguished, the radio that speaks
I drive following the lights of the dawn

I know, you know the mind it flies
From the time it is found again alone
Captive, without a body
The dawn is born

You are within me like high tide
That disappears then reappears, carrying me away
You are the deepest mystery, the passion, the idea
The immense fear that you are not mine

I know, you know the time it flies
But how much must I drive until I see you again
For one look, my pride
How much I love you

You are within me like high tide
That disappears then reappears, carrying me away
You are the deepest mystery, the passion, the idea
The immense fear that you are not mine

I know, you know the time it flies
But how much must I drive until I see you again
For one look, my pride
How much I love you

To tell you how much I love you
To tell you how much I love you
To tell you how much I love you

Definitely a rip-off of the background... sheesh.

Precious, precious thing, you are the song that makes me sing...

Neil: "Ashley Dean, where is she? Thank you Ashley for your kind words." Big Grin 8/13/07

I work at a doctors' surgery and today I could hear CH playing Don't Dream It's Over on the radio of a very deaf man, while I was trying to talk to him on the phone!

Last week, my computer random password generator came up with 'paper + cup'. These little moments help to brighten my day.

i'm just catching up on this thread, so i just watched that italian thingy.

i'm glad you posted the lyrics, Ashley, cause i could tell they were NOT the ones we're used to in any language.

I'll admit i like to look at angelina jolie, especially when she is being mean to men, but that was over the top cheesy. Plus, what's the deal with wearing a suit to the beach?

weird.

Was treated to Distant Sun while in a dress shop this morning and then went off to meet some colleagues for a pub lunch and got DDIO as part of what sounded like a mostly 80's soundtrack.

Yes, thank you for the translation, Ashley! My gf speaks Italian but I didn't want to inflict this thing on her just for my curiosity's sake.

I heard the end of this in an Italian restaurant tonight. The restaurant itself was pretty loud and the music wasn't really cranked up, so I didn't recognize it until it was pretty much over.

I watched a video clip of an interview Neil did on his 40th bday and he talks about an italian version of DDIO with something about a cigarette in the lyrics.

At least I think that was the interview he mentnioned it in.....it was posted somewhere....maybe here.....maybe Next Exit....maybe OTS....maybe I dreamt it.... LOL

Anyway, he must have been talking about this song, I would think. So I guess maybe we're all waaaaay behind the 8 ball, given that that would make the song 10 yrs old. We're slacking, people! Wink

I'm guessing it must be at least 10 years old, much past that and Ms. Jolie was probably past the point in her career where foreign-language video vamp seemed like a sweet gig to land.

Thanks for posting that, Tine. I hadn't seen it before. I'd love to know the show that was taken from.

And forgive me for taking this off-topic but - WOW! - that's some hairdo Neil's sporting.

I had lunch with my Southern Cal colleagues from the Mother Ship at Red Lobster in May, and we heard "She will have her way" That's already lucky, but we had a prego and somebody being promoted so I wanted us to sing the Do n Do Doos all together to bring extra luck.

Well, Teressa has a beautiful baby girl and Bill's fairly happy thanks to Neil.

Last Wednesday essentially the same crowd gathered at PF Chang's in Pasadena and heard, Nobody Wants To.

Not real big on chain restaurants, not real big on California south of the Tehachapi's, but can't argue with unexpected Finn -

If June Cleaver was so happy, why did she fret so darn hard about the Beav?

Is there a link to that video somewhere??

Talk about a late reply!:

It runs over the end credits. It's a funny ep based solely on Patrick Stewart's performance. Some stuff you'd never expect to come out of his mouth.

I'm a little unsure if you'll be able to see it outside of the US though. Sorry.

Okay, these may have been mentioned already, but I once heard....
-Tim Finn's "Persuasion" in a Big Lots
-"I Got You" in a mall (around the year 2000!)
-"A Sigh" during a scene in "Ugly Betty" (not sure whether it was CH or a cover)
-"Pour Le Monde" in our local Lowe's. I asked my four-year-old daughter, "Who's that singing on the radio?" and she replied, "Neil Finn." That's my girl! She loves listening to "Transit Lounge" in the car and calls it the mermaid song because she thinks Beth Rowley's vocal track sounds like Ariel. My four-year-old son has been singing along with the la-la-la's on "She Called Up" since it came out. Another generation Finndoctrinated!

I was sitting outside James Squire Brewhouse on Saturday night, enjoying a fine beer and the unusually balmy Melbourne weather, with an acoustic duo playing covers inside, and they started playing Something So Strong Smiler I may or may not have embarrassed my boyfriend by adding the harmonies myself.

A very brief image of Neil at Glastonbury appears on the bonus footage of "Britain From Above", the BBC DVD!

Also, brief bits of WWY and Locked Out can be heard as the producer is interviewed. Crowd footage also appears. Made me smile cos it was so unexpected Smiler

I just got back from spending 3 days in the joy/hell of Disneyland and heard Don't Dream It's Over blaring over the speakers of Downtown Disney. They play the music so loud, I had kind of tuned it out until my 8 year old pointed out that Crowded House was playing.
