Well the movie 'Two Hands' starring Heath Ledger has Crowded House's 'Kare Kare' at the end with the credits, it's on the soundtrack CD.
'Reality Bites' with Winona Ryder has 'Locked Out' on the CD but also has 'Something so strong' in the movie.
The soundtrack to the TV show Felicity has 'She will have her way' on the CD and on the show they have played 'World where you' live and 'swhhw'.
The new movie coming out called 'Boys and girls' has swhhw on the soundtrack.

Does anyone else know what other movies the finn's music is featured in?

The Mel Gibson/Michelle Pfeiffer film "Tequila Sunrise" was, for a long time, the only source for Recurring Dream

Tim has done the music for the Les Patterson film

In 1990, Tim Finn and Phil Judd did the soundtrack album for "The Big Steal".

Also, I know it's not a movie soundtrack. But Tim's soundtrack to "Steel City" is a work of genius. Any fans of CH, SE or Tim's solo work will love it.

HOME AND AWAY
Some Crowded House songs and 1 T Finn song are regularly played on an Australian soap opera called Home And Away OR at least they did when I used to watched it frequently 5 months ago.
Anyone else notice it?
The hypocrisy of it is when the show released a mainstream soundtrack, the Finn's weren't on it, a testament to my semi theory that sometimes our heroes are overlooked because of their age.
The show also plays other Aussie acts I recommend Michael Spiby / The Badloves (a man not to dissimilar to Neil in appearance and talent), Leonardo's Bride and Hunters And Collectors / Mark Seymour.
Apparently this show was purchased by a English TV Channel for $24 million (I can't hardly believe it myself, now if only they took 1/10th interest like that into the Finn's they'd be really far away by now - it'll be money well spent...), according to a newspaper article I saw during May 2000. Hopefully some of that would be going to the Finn's in royalties

MEDIA FINN
In general I've seen Crowded House songs played during the lead up to the commercial breaks of major news and sport bulletins here in OZ, especially during the Olympics. A sport star here even chose Recurring Dream (to be played in the background) during his retirement career profile on a TV show.

Neil is currently writing/recording the soundtrack for "Rain", a NZ film. There was an interesting interview with him on NZ's 60 minutes program, showing Neil using high-tech instruments such as a kid's glockenspiel (and then yelling at the interviewer not to touch it!)... some interesting sound effects anyway. Neil's website (http://www.nilfun.net) features a "black dot" on the left hand nav bar which currently plays an excerpt from the soundtrack.

Yes I did notice that Crowded House and Split Enz stuff was on Home And Away and I was a bit annoyed when none of this stuff was on the shows soundtrack, I mean how rude.

Once before the AFL football game came on Now We're Getting Somewhere was played, that was cool.

And has anyone mentioned the truly appalling movie "Starstruck"? Honestly... its only redeeming feature was the music... Tim and Phil more or less together again...

I always wished there had been a soundtrack for the Coca-Cola Kid, because I always liked the song, 'Strange Night'. Tim always comes up with the songs i can't keep out of my head.

Can't remember the name of the film, but the Finns are all over this wacky little Aussie movie that stars that lovely Saffron Burrows, something about a romance hotel. "Hotel D'Love", i think? It has "In Love with it all" and more on the sountrack and a character in the movie plays this old geezer piano player...he picks out "What more can a poor boy do" and other gems on the piano....I thought maybe it was Richard Finn!

Plus an American tv show a few years back "Sportsnight" had "Not the Girl you think you are' and "She will have her way" as part of the PLOT of an episode.

The American soap opera "All My Children' ALWAYS has Finn music on it, too!

I was going to write a play, call it "Together Alone" and use Crowded House/Neil Finn songs, but I haven't quite gotten around to it yet. Wink

I went to see Dave Dobbyn in London last week and during the gig he gave us all some Neil gossip.

Apparently Neil has got the job of doing the music for Peter Weir's next film starring one Russell Crowe.

Working title at the moment is 'The Far Side Of The World', but IMDB has it listed as 'Master & Commander'. Their page for the film is here:

IMDB - Master & Commander

(If that doesn't work, go to the IMDB and search for Peter Weir)

and heres a coupla websites that Campbell (also at DD) posted to TITM:

Release sometime in 2003.

There was a symphony thing hinted at in the Entertainment Weekly article this month too.

From EW

quote:
IT film composer NEIL FINN

AGE 44 WHY HIM? The consummate pop songwriter and former Crowded House frontman has joined the ranks of rockers scoring films. His atmospheric, pop-based music for Rain--a New Zealand coming-of-age drama that hit art houses this spring--lushly articulates the film's bittersweet nostalgia. WHY HE LIKES WRITING TO PICTURES "You don't start with the blank-page dilemma. You start with a reason to be." MOURNING BECOMES ELECTRIC "I'm not sure how Rain ends up not being really bleak. There is an element of hope in there, and I'm not sure how [the director] pulls it off. That's the way I've always hoped my songs are, as well--there's melancholy, but I don't imagine at any moment there is a desolate feeling." BEST ADVICE "When I was 16, my Uncle George said I should have a girl in my band. It took me over 20 years to take him up on that." (Lisa Germano and Prince alumnae Wendy and Lisa recently joined his combo.) NEXT Finn's experimenting with an orchestra for his next, still-secret score. In July, he tours America to promote a new studio album (One All).

There are a couple Crowded House tunes in the movie "The Sum of Us" with Russell Crowe, but I don't know if a soundtrack was released for it.

Mel (from the top) or anyone - I thought the song played @ the ending credits to Two Hands (clssic film!) was Powderfinger's these days (brilliant song!).

Anyone?

Funnily enough Two Hands was on Uk Tv a few months ago and I taped it.

I only watched it last night Eeker and can confirm on that version that Kare Kare was played over the end credits. There are, however, a lot of Powderfinger songs in it according to those very credits.
