wait, is Rain the NZ film where there's these kids, and their parents are constantly "partying" (so to speak), I believe I might've seen the start of that

Don't really know much about the film, but I've got the soundtrack, it's well worth a listen and makes for good background music. Also Liam's track at the end is really good.

The film is more than a bit heavy - really struck a nerve with me, anyway. A sister and brother are kind of left to their own devices by their self-involved, alcoholic parents. Very tragic ending, but the young actors were just lovely, and gave totally believable and moving performances. The soundtrack is brilliant and perfect for the film in mood and content. Lovely to me that N.F. has both the strength and insightfulness to get the emotions of a teenage girl so right - that's not easy - even for a woman! Worth seeing if you're not the type who needs a happy ending.

Have a listen to some samples from Ed McWilliams' (aka Ed Cake's) solo CD "Downtown Puff" here. Some of this was recorded around the time of the "Rain" session. Neil played the beautiful "Golden Man" in a guest DJ spot on National Radio in 2000 and Tim Finn plays piano on "The Airshow". His earlier album with band Bressa Creeting Cake (two members of which later formed Goldenhorse, who've also performed on stage with the Finns) is even more brilliant with some truly sublime moments.

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of recording Ed singing three of his new Pye Warmer songs at Radio New Zealand National for a Music 101 live session (of sorts). If it doesn't open in Windows Media player try the mp3 option.

Thanks for posting this stuff, Jaffaman. Smiler

I listened to your Radio NZ session and really enjoyed it. Smiler

Unfortunately, the other links you've posted - I can't seem to get them to work.

I really enjoy the little bit of Ed McWilliam's music that I've heard. I love his work on Rain, and I've heard only one song by Bressa Creeting Cake (Palm Singing), but I just love it. Would love to hear more of that album.

I'm not sure what exactly I like about this guy - he's offbeat, yet very melodic...

I think I just got it from ebay, it wasn't that long ago maybe a year at the most and was about £20.00.

The guy that I got from I think is called New Zealand CDs, he has some good things, got most of my Split Enz back catalogue off him as well as some Betchadupa stuff.
