What Kira neglected to mention was that it was James Blunt's atrocious version of FAYF on The OC. Absolutely shocking.

Yeah, I think i agree. At first, I loved 'You're beautiful', but now It's kind of annoying ( I think it's his voice ). Wise men seems rather lame. Now Neil, if you're reading this, you should do a cover of YB. I know that you could show Jimmy how it's done!

He's a very lacklustre artist IMO. His cover of Fall At Your Feet is just plain insulting though. Neil should sue!

Well, maybe FAYF wasn't the best cover for him to do, but if he likes the song and wants to cover it as a tribute to Neil, then more power to him.

I admit it... I bought his record. I can't listen to him constantly, but there are times when his songs fit my mood. And I'm certainly not a pop-trendy-lemmings listener. My iPod's full of eclectic stuff (Finn, and beyond), and I have a pretty good CD collection. JB is one of many styles that I like to listen to depending on how I feel.

But he's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's fine too.

I bought JB's album too, I only play it when I'm in one of my 'moods' thu, BUT I have'nt listened to his cover of FAYF, for my own reasons

You get used to the one Singer/Band performing a particular song and that is what you compare cover versions too. If James Blunt wanted this as a tribute to NF, yeah, sure, fine, go for it. But NFAddict is not going to go out of her way just to buy a copy of this song.
Crowded House/NF Solo performing 'FAYF' is the ONLY version that does anything for me.

By the way, I heard a rumour that James Blunt was BANNED from certain British Radio stations recently . Why, I don't know.

LOL! Yeah, even singing one of his own songs, he makes me wanna lose my lunch, this is just.......too much!

I didn't think it was that bad at all. I don't particularly like his voice, but I've heard Finn covers a lot worse than this (most on She Will Have Her Way ). It's a straight cover, he doesn't mess around with the song, yeah I didn't mind it really (not a patch on the original of course).

Uh yeah, I just had a listen, and you posties weren't over the top. It is fairly awful . The only silver lining is that since James Blunt is apparantly everywhere right now, the song is bound to do well (hence nice royalties and props for Neil).


A couple of years back someone else did a cover of FAYF. It was wicked, but that was because it sounded EXACTLY the same. At least James tried to mold it in some new (and horrendous) way.

It was the bside to You're Beautiful (or was it goodbye my lover? it might have even been the original release of High. I can't remember now) in the UK last year.

I thought it was ok. I didn't think it was awful or hideous or totally unlistenable that's for sure. I found it odd because he speeds it up a bit, especially the vocal. Sounds a bit like he's on double speed almost.

But yeah, like Camus says, its not a patch on the original but its not awful either.

I bought that to hear what it was like... it's ok, but the more I listen the less I like it! I don't mind the odd one of James Blunt's songs, but rather I think I like the songs but most of the time his voice grates on me...

The thing that bugs me about the cover is the vocals when he sings "whenever I fall"... it seems to be over so fast. One thing which always gives me shivers on the original is the way Neil sings Fall.... and I guess that spoils it for me more than any other part.
