If I recall correctly, from the 5 years I've been on this forum, reading and posting, the advertisement in question could be something to do with

"Planet Ark"

some sort of environmental group or maybe something to do with the home less.

When I was in my teens I recall this Tim Finn song All I Ask being played on TV and I always thought it was a classic oldies song.

Later when I heard it on Woodface I still believed Tim covered it. That's a testimony to the power of the song and how Tim (who wrote it) is so overlooked by fervent addicted Neil Finn fans, who don't give the older brother a fair and objective go.

No, the Planet Ark advert used "It's Only Natural".

"All I Ask" was used, very movingly I might add, on an TV advertisement for AIDS awareness some years back (I forget the name of the charity).

Just revisiting this thread because I was thinking about the AIDS ad and wondering if anyone could remember what it was. At least someone else has a recollection something like mine, so I know it wasn't a figment of my imagination!

Yes pretty sure it was AIDS awareness. It showed a small girl around 5yo carring a teddy? up a flight of stairs. Very moving advert and really 'sold' the song to me. Anyone that dosen't rate aia highly probably never saw this ad I'd reckon.

Hmm, can't say I recall a small girl with a teddy, though I do recall a child with one in Tim's How'm I Gonna Sleep? clip. I thought it just portrayed fairly average people (as most AIDS victims are) being given a hard time because of their illness, hence the song, but it's been too long. It's amazing I don't recall it better really as I do remember it used to bring tears to the eyes on occasions, it was pretty powerful and the song evoked the sentiment perfectly for that and all kinds of discrimination.

I think I remember the little girl..... I think it may have been a black and white ad and it switched scenes a few times (almost like a slide show of still/slow mo photos)I think there was an elderly person too.

You guys might well be right. Since what I recall ftom the ad was how it was showing that people with AIDS can quite often be normal people, a little girl and old lady both seem plausible. I wish someone did have it, twas a great ad and not just for the use of such a wonderful song. They used it very effectively.
