The tour edition of Bic Runga's "Birds" is released in Australia on March 5th and features five bonus live tracks recorded at the Civic Theatre with the full band in Auckland in November last year. I would assume it'll also be released in NZ soon.

Sure do Guy Smiler Neil is supporting Bic in Melbourne on the 16th March and Sydney on the 17th, there may still be tickets left, I'm not sure. I dont know any other dates I think the NZ shows start in Invercargill)but I do know it's going to be a great show.

NZ shows will immediately follow the Australian ones and will feature the full band, including Neil.

I'm not so sure it will be released here in NZ. It's labelled as "Limited Australian Tour Edition". The NZ tour is almost upon us and no sign of a local version.

I'm sure it will come at some point, maybe after another few months if not now. Every Bic Runga album so far has had a second NZ release with bonus tracks.

Yep, my disc says live 2006 as well. Must be a typo or printing error. Perhapse they ment it as a tie-in for the 2006 tour.

I am looking forward to the concert tonight. Should be good. According to the state theatre website, it's all Bic Runga for 2 hours! No support act, just Bic with studio band! Smiler
Guess Neil will be doing piano/keyboard, guitar & backing vox tonight. Fave song at the moment is Captured.

The typo seems universal! Ooops! Never mind.

I love both the album and the Live CD.

I went and saw Bic and Neil last night in Melbourne. It was a brilliant show. The first half was songs off her previous albums and the second half was Birds performed with her studio band - including Neil. Needless to say, he did get a loud cheer or two along with lavish praise from Bic herself. The music was beautiful - her voice was devine. I'm so glad I went and if she tours again, like she suggested she might later this year - I'll definitely be going again.

Quoted from the Max email,
'Bic Runga
Watch The Know this week to see Bic's Winning Arrow clip, and to hear her discuss collaborating with Neil Finn on her new album "Birds". Rarely does such a saintly voice find such perfect romance with lyrics.'

Ah saw The Know but alas yakking on the phone at the time, it was a very short and sweet interview, with a few snippets from the vid being shown.

Bit late with my Bic Runga Concert review. Been having a few computer problems.

In a word, Fantastic.

The show was in 2 halves. First half consisted of material from her first 2 albums & a couple of cover songs. The second half was the entire album of Birds played in its entirety (well almost). She kept refering to the guy playing the piano as.... "you all no this guy?".
Never seen him before in my life. Who was that guy, & what was all the fuss & cheering about??
Was it Neil somebody-or-other??
The drummer was good though.

If you get a chance to see the studio band live, its definately worth catching.
Bic said at the end of the concert, that she would be touring later in the year.
Will definately have to catch that one! Smiler
Highlite for moi was, Captured & Winning Arrow.

Our local paper (the SMH) didn't seem to do a review, so could only find these.
