That's What I Call Love
Posted
After having seen Goldenboy at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano with Neil on March 12, 2002, I had a lot of great memories and anticipation for seeing them again.

As we all know, here on the board, Shon Sullivan, who played guitar and toured with Neil, is the lead vocal, lead musician (guitar and piano), and song writer for Goldenboy.

And of course, during Neil's tour, he had Shon play a song each time we saw them and it created more anticipation for seeing Shon in Goldenboy. I mean, he is a gifted and talented guitar player, song writer and musician. He was a great choice for Neil to pick to tour with him.

Wednesday night we saw him during Lisa Germano's encore at Largo, we spoke with Lisa, Shon, as well as Sebastian; who was also there to support Lisa and got all the info about The Press in Claremont, to see Goldenboy.

Tonight was the night and it was even better than our memories of them! Incredibly, the band that opened for them was actually good so we enjoyed them as well. I believe it's something like Slydell (spelling???).

We ate dinner there first, which is a must if you want a good seat. The dinner there is excellent! I felt like we were eating at a gourmet restaraunt.

While we were sitting there at the table, Shon walked over and greeted us, extending his hand and welcoming us. It's so weird to actually be remembered, but then again he's such a sweet guy, I'm sure it's not uncommon for him to treat people like this.

We also met Brian and got a good conversation going with him, as they began bringing in everything to set up; which Paul helped to schlepp in. It was just a very comfortable, relaxing, casual time. He's interested in possibly giving our son, Jordan, drum lessons, when he's available. - YEAH! Big Grin

Prior to Goldenboy playing I asked Shon if we could take some pictures. He had no problem with it, so I will be posting those as soon as I download them from the camera and get them ready for the web.

Then, of course, the other band played, we had a good time, Goldenboy played and it was absolutely glorious! (I wish you all could have been here.)

Goldenboy's set was very loose this evening. There was no clear set list, just a list of songs to pull from, to jog the memory.

All in all it was a great time! We bought the CD and played it all the way home!

They are just beginning their west coast tour for the next 10 days. I'd HIGHLY recommend going to see them!
