Hi Silke, Just wanted to let you know, we did schlepp up to see Goldenboy, spoke to the guys and hung out with them for a bit while they set up, and gave David your message. But what we had hoped to be a great evening seeing them play turned out to be a send off from us to them for their tour and then a quick trip back home, missing them. Got a phone call from our kids and illness sent us back home. It was great seeing the guys though, who are very excited about the tour. I know they will do well. All is well now on the home front as well, now that mom is home. Sorry I couldn't give you any more info. Met "Venus" there, who hopefully will come and fill you in on the forum, as well as LeeAnne, who we see at every concert of theirs. Great fans! Great Frenz! shalom, Kim

If that was the case in Europe, then he WAS MUCH better in the US! I guess we lucked out. In fact, Paul (my honey) is a guitar player (and pretty critical at that) and totally enjoyed Shon's playing. It's too bad he didn't have enough time with the songs prior to Europe. But he's great on them now so you can expect great things the next time round. On another note, can anyone who did get to see Goldenboy the other night at Spaceland, please post how it went????? It was bad enough having to go home, but not knowing how it went is driving me mad. I would love to know how it went. Thanks... shalom, Kim

Silke, and anyone else who was interested, I have some GREAT NEWS!!!!! Lee Ann emailed me with her "review" of Goldenboy's show at Spaceland. I'm posting it here, with her permission. I thought I'd pass it on, since I couldn't write my own, so we can ALL know what we missed. quote: Oh I'm sleepy. The boys didn't start until 11:30 or so. There were two bands before them. That did give us time, however, to chat a little. They have new t-shirts and magnets for sale on this tour, along with the usual caps and CDs. The show was great, of course. They started with Kittens of Lust and the order after that is a blur, but they did play most of their songs on the album, Strange as it Seems, the new "sad cowboy song" he opened with at Largo, and a few covers (Hoagy Carmichael for one). I don't know if you saw the disco ball with the mirrored ring (like saturn), but I really wanted them to use it during Kittens of Lust. Just a little dream of mine. Anyway I asked the sound guy if it worked. He said "it used to, but I don't know." Well, he got it to work. So he said he would use it and did. Of course I was surprised they started with that song, and the guy wasn't ready, he was busy adjusting the sound. He did use it on Blue Swans of Winter, which would have been my second choice. It was cool and made me laugh. I felt like I needed my roller skates. It was nice to have the dance floor this time. We made good use of it. The guys seemed to enjoy themselves, as usual, and yes they played "Babydoll" the rocking guitar version. Sorry Kim since he didn't play it a Largo. Oh ya, Scott MacPherson played drums on Almost Perfect. So afterwards we gave them a proper send off with some road trip gifts. We left around 3:00 and I didn't get to bed until 4:00.

hi kids, just got home from the hideout and a quite lovely(but short)set from goldenboy! my first time at the hideout(the cabbie had no clue where it was, and when we saw the front facade, i understood why)and totally enjoyed the band....unfortunately, there were only about 20-25 or so people there, which may have explained the short set...but they held up well...it is a pretty small place;double that amount would have packed it! i spoke with shon and david briefly, very sweet guys...only halfway thru a very long tour...trying to keep their energy up....i made some cookies (and cookie airplanes)for neil during the last tour; and thought the guys could probably use a little something sweet and homemade, so i brought a boxful for the boys to help keep their spirits up....shon told me he'll be touring with neil when he comes back in january, and most likely they'll try to hit the cities they missed the first time...goldenboy may even play some opening shows for neil as well (not confirmed tho)i know there have been some differing opinions on this band, but they have a pretty decent sound overall and should definately be given a listen!
