I was at Andy White�s show in Edmonton on Wednesday night (for those of you who aren�t familiar with him, he is the �A� in ALT). He treated us to two ALT songs (�What You�ve Done� and �We�re All Men�). ALT�s album, Altitude, was released in 1995, I believe.

He explained the history behind the song �What You�ve Done�. I�m not sure if this has been discussed before, but I thought I would post it in this section of the forum since this song is included on FTG.

Apparently, Liam O�Maonlai (the �L� from ALT) had a crush on Dolores O'Riordan, of the Cranberries. He bought her a beautiful dress (like the song says) and then found out that she didn�t return his feelings. Her boyfriend (�I saw you with your boyfriend, he�s bigger than me�) is a Canadian, Don Burton, whom she later married.

Agree...we heard roughly the same explanation out of Tim during his NZ tour last October.

My understanding of the story is that the Cranberries chick was acting interested in Liam, and basically leading him on, then went back with an ex-boyfriend. A devastated Liam responded by getting really drunk and putting on the dress he'd bought for her, to be able to say it was HIS dress, not hers. (Makes sense, in a weird way...)

Tim made it sound like this chick truly messed Liam over, and broke his heart pretty badly.
