Just unearthed - a limited number of The Makers 1st album (Brian Baker and Eddie Rayner). If there are any fans, or interested parties, out there keen to get hold of a copy, please email me.
A few copies of Eddie Rayner's "Horse" left too, but not many of either. "Horse" is an incredible CD - impossible to categorise or pigeonhole (which appears to be a trademark of Eddie's...) but I guess the closest I could come to a description would be "original, funky, instrumental pop". It's become one of my favourites. Have not heard the Makers yet though, so can't put any kind of description on it, can anyone give me an idea of what it's like or whether they like it, or not, and why/why not? Ta!! And email me if you want a copy.... (the copies are not mine, but the source is Kiwi.....)

Cheers all!

Well,I have both Makers Cd's and I definately prefer the first over the second. The songs on both are decent...synth-pop with alot of horns. My fave song is probably "Open Windows" off the first Cd..but honestly,I don't listen to either very often..if only cos Brian Baker's voice gets on my nerves.

I actually prefer the 2nd makers cd 'hokey pokey'.
I heard the debut makers album first and had high expectations due to eddie's involvement.
On the plus side, the debut makers cd (produced by hugh padgham) has some good songs and the intro to 'bon voyage' makes an appearance. There are some good parts by eddie, but Brian Bakers voice is hard to take when you're used to the finn's.
The second cd though is really good. The songs sound alot warmer and more relaxed, even funny in places. It's also alot more diverse, 'for whatever reason' also has a great brass band ending that reminds me of 'together alone' (done at the same time?).
I'd love to hear from anyone with makers b-sides as i've only got dream away (not by PJ) from 'the big picture'.
