The moment near the very end of NWWY when Neil proclaims, "I walk along with you."

The hook-y way Neil sings "GOT to make you less lonely" the second time around in AGC.

The quiet, almost sighing way Neil sings "This gentle hum" the very first time.

There's a bit in NWWY when the piano kind of illustates the voices in your head.......But that's not really a hook just one of those little things hidden in EIH.

this is a great thread...I'm actually slightly suprised though that more people haven't mentioned 'Gentle Hum.'

For me, as moments on the album goes, this has got to be a magnificent closing point. I will admit when I first listened to EIH I think I kind of expected another 'How Will You Go?' style closing track, so was at first a little underwhelmed. BUT NOW! For me it's pretty clearly the fruits of all of neil's (sometimes not so successful) experimenting on TWT and OA - the tuned drums for example, or the accordian which just melts into the mix perfectly I think.

The You shake it off... line at the end of the NWWY chorus is the highlight of the album for me - Ddon't know why. Gives me some hope for its success as a single.

Yeah...that bit at the end of the chorus on NWWY is wonderful and always gets me everytime I listen to the song. I also like the same line Tim sings in the background towards the end of the song...very ethereal.

my highlights include,

the drum and bass dropping in at an unexpected moment at the start of wont give in.

the bass drum 4 on the floor before the incredible chorus on nothing wrong with you.

the massive 'in my command sized' chorus on part of me, part of you.

and every single second of gentle hum.

There's lots of hooks but two that stick out are...

Disembiodied Voices; The middle eight and the way it ends to compliment the chords of the verses...(does anyone understand what i mean? Hope i've explained that well enough!!)

Gentle Hum; The way the acoustic guitar comes into the first chorus and then accordian the second chorus. Just class!

Sean.

Too many great moments on EIH to just single out one. But I love how seamlessly All The Colours morphs into the start of POM/POY.

If Sunset Swim had replaced Gentle Hum as the last track, it would be the perfect album.

Have to agree with c.hauser and laver78 - the whole "This is the last chance, we've got to do it now" refrain from All God's Children just nails me. The whole song speaks to me about what is going on in the world right now and and that refrain gives me hope that somehow, someday, the world has to connect on a human level and some sort of peace will happen (I won't go further, lest we delve into politics in this forum).

It's a very real moment for me that will forever link the release of this CD to a larger context, thus it has to be my stand out moment/hook.
