I've got some photo's, but I haven't had a chance to do anything with them. It will be at least Monday...sorry guy's but I've been working and I don't know if you've been watching the weather, but Brisvegus is stinking bloody hot and in the room where my computer is it has been around 40 degrees!!!!! I'll have a go Monday morning.

RED GIRL WROTE:

LMAO Not to worry 7 worlds - ye can't fight gravity!!! Just lucky old Justin Timberlake wan't there to take advantage!

To the relief of the majority of Sydneysiders left at the conclusion of Homebake, Mrs HP convinced me to be subtle when changing my clothes.....no articles of clothing were flung onstage (although I did seriously consider throwing Nick my shirt) but with lopsided boobs that just would have been a bad look and let the Pack down

Sorry luv, I did try!!!!!!

Great photo's Guy! You were at the FRONT! Wow. The best we could get was about 2-3 rows back on the left hand side of stage. So it's great to see some pics from the other side. Thanks again!

Hi guys,

This is my first time posting here, and the reason? The Living End.

I am a massive long time TLE fan, but have been a Split Enz/Crowded House fan alot longer.

It's saddened me to think that those in the Homebake crowd automatically assumed the worst of TLE fans.

If it were a Finns Bros show, and someone carried on, I might understand people being upset.
But it wasnt. It was a festival. For some odd reason, people tend to go absolutely nuts at festivals. They relax and enjoy themselves.
People who are there for all manner of bands, people more often than not fuelled by alcohol, and not necessarily people who are what you would call 'die-hard TLE fans'.

Sure the die-hard fans go off, but most times, they are hardened gig go-ers, who can weather the mosh pit, while still looking out for fellow fans around them. They're there for the music, and usually in the pit because it's the closest spot to absorb it. They weigh up the hassle and the benefit, and decide the pit is generally worth it.

However the pit is the pit... it's full of all types of hyped-up festival party animals. I know that despite being used to the pit after nearly 50 TLE gigs, and countless bands, there are some gigs where I wouldnt be caught dead near the front (and that's more to do with ring-ins there specifically to cause havok, NOT true TLE fans). But frankly, if you cant take the heat, stay out of the mosh pit.

For the Homebake organisors to get a class act like Finn Bros, must've seemed a real treat, but they've had TLE at Homebake before, and anyone with an ounce of Aus Music knowledge, knows full well that TLE are seasoned professionals, and how pumped they can get a crowd, so it seems to me a poor choice to put mellow Finns (better suited to the sedate Enmore than a young persons festival) on the bill after a fine rocking band like TLE...

Oh, and to the person who was appalled by Chris using the odd expletive... look to our own messieurs Finn's before casting judgement. I've witnessed them cursing during performance on more than one occasion...

Friend of the 'End.

I agree with Mayb, usually the ones making the unpleasant environment aren't the huge TLE fans, just the people that go to a festival to have a good time. To the person who said they couldn't believe how much contempt they had for their fans, that's completely untrue. The whole band have always been 100 percent friendly towards their fans, going out of their way to meet and greet, sign things, and get photos taken. The first TLE gig I ever went to, Chris Cheney (Lead singer, guitarist), saw me and my friends standing around after the gig and actually came over to us to say hello, have a bit of a chat, take photos with us and sign whatever we wanted. They're a really friendly bunch of guys!

I'm sorry, but you can't possibly compare whatever Neil or Tim might say onstage to someone addressing his fans as 'f*****g c***s'. Really shows a lot of class.

Sorry, I thought this forum was about the Finns...didn't know we suddenly had to give a crap about The Living End. If you love TLE so much, go rave about them on their forum.

Mrs Horse Pants, I fully agree with you. Neil and Tim may use the f-word every now and then, but NEVER to us!! It doesn't show a lot of respect for the fans, does it, and I think our relationship with the Finns is based on mutual respect!!

And I am also not interested in reading about TLE on this forum, I don't really care about their music. I'm sure the fans like it, well, good for you! Start your own forum then, I am really not interested in reading about them on this one!!

Rock on Mrs Horse Pants. I agree. There was more than just one person who thought that particular expression was unnecessary.

Now here's where we'll have to agree to disagree. Many of the crowd-goers weren't looking out for their fellow fans at all. They were completely self-absorbed (and no, I'm sure it wasn't just TLE fans). Can't people have a great time, and enjoy the music together, without causing discomfort to those around them? It's been done before hasn't it? I remember seeing the Wave Aid footage and being absolutely amazed at how completely into the music the crowd was, and still everyone was seeming to have a great time - literally an ocean of people, but all happy faces, no dangerous crowd crush. Nice to see. Am I naive to think that it can be done at all festivals? The whole idea of these festivals is to enjoy the music and each other's company right?
And for the majority of the day, I must admit, that was the case, just a few brief moments that weren't up to scratch.
quote:
You could see Neil wanted to mess around a bit but knew he had to do the last song but he said something like "just a one minute jam" and they played the first bit to WWYL and the crowd again just took over and sang "Do you climb into spaaaaaAAAAAccee??!!",

Oh yes! That was the most magical moment, AnnieMay. Thanks for the reminder. You've put a smile on my face! Big Grin
I didn't get many good pics, but here's one from my angle - yay for zoom! Big Grin

I think you are being self-absorbed and basing your findings on your own opinions. Has it ever occurred to you that people may enjoy music by jumping around? And dont complain about The Living End; they look after their fans and I'd much prefer to be in one of their crowds than alot of other bands.

Watch these and see if you are still willing to complain about TLE
