Crikey!
Hope it doesn't end up in a, "you, me, carpark NOW!" Scenario. Or pistols at dawn. Still, if one must choose. I would have to say the chicken. & i've just squeued the polls. They're neck & neck now. Good luck gentlemen. -------------------------------------------- Oranjekoek...lekker! |

this debate's gone all the way through after school pipes and drums, funnily enough which was mostly in the school carpark....

Yeah just you wait. I'm gonna poke you with a bagpipe if Neil gets this one. I think the proof is in the solo works, and to be frank, I find TWT and One Nil both quite boring, while Escapade is pop genius, Big Canoe might be flawed but does have some great songs (Spiritual Hunger, No Thunder No Fire No Rain, Carve You In Marble, Big Canoe), Tim Finn is the ABSOLUTE BEST ALBUM BY ANYONE EVER (plus that brilliant cover), Before and After once again has some great songs (Persuasion, Hit The Ground Running), and Say It Is So is beautiful and understated, while the much more hard edged sound of Feeding The Gods is best described as just plain awesome.
I honestly believe that while Neil is credited with most of the Crowded House songs alone, Nick and (especially) Paul brought a lot to the sound and feel of the band. It's not as though it was Neil "and band", Crowded House was not just the one musical genius, like a lot of Tim's solo stuff was. And while I can name a few of Neil's songs that I don't really like (Truth, Dream Date and almost the whole of One Nil except for The Climber, Hole In The Ice, Anytime or Driving Me Mad), the only Tim song I ever skip over is Big Wave Rider, and only because of the fancy voice sound stuff going on. I don't even skip "Water Into Wine" Of course most if not all of this is down to personal opinion but that's what I reckon. I still love the both of them, though, and nothing ever quite beats them together... "Cabbage for Lobster" |

Must have been reading this thread at the exact same time. Because instead of editing the message, I accidently deleated it
Now to repeat what I accidently did away with: Jumped on the band wagon and voted. I just couldn't resist. I like TF, I no longer have anything against TF {I used to but NOT since having the guy directly in front of me in the flesh melting my heart... 3 weeks later and I'm still recovering} but I think that my public name says it all. *GO NEIL MULLANE FINN! GO!* And thankyou for not snatching an idea from my originality. Still seems funny to me that I've taken NFAddict but at this time no one has taken the name TFADDICT! Anyone who thinks that Tim is better than Neil definitely qualifies... BUT NEIL IS THE BETTER ONE. ____________________________________________________________________________ And so, that's how it goes. Never the first, always the last to know! Temple of Low Men, considered by many to be Crowded House's best album, with all lyrics written by none other than Neil Finn

Yes but Sister Madly is nothing without Paul. Ever heard Tim "Live at the Borderline"? He doesn't need a band.

i think i've read many sources that say Escapade was one of the causes of the demise of the Enz

All good things must come to an end. And I wouldn't say the Enz have ended - they just toured. Plus good things came out of the end of the Enz - CH and Tim's solo career.

Ever heard Neil every single time he has ever picked up a guitar without a band behind him?? He doesn't need one either. He can also cover absolutely anything and make is sound as true and wonderful as if he wrote it himself. I can't actually say either brother is better, Neil just happens to appeal to ME more. It's all a matter of taste. But since that wasn't a poll option, I had to go with the one I like best, and you KNOW who that is ********************************************************************* 7 Worlds Collide 2 WEBCAST!! Getting Somewhere |
I Love Tim but....here it goes:
Try Whistling This Faster Than Light Addicted Sinner She Will Have Her Way The Climber Turn and Run Wherever You Are LULLABYE REQUIEM**************** Driving Me Mad Last to Know Into The Sunset and 95% of every single CROWDED HOUSE song ever released. Not to mention the best SPLIT ENZ songs... I wouldnt say Neil crushes Tim or anything remotely close to that. Dont get me wrong it is a pretty even match. But In the end its NEIL over TIM. Come on, even they know it... youll never see the end of the road while your travelling with me... |

Don't do this to me!!! I cannot choose. It all depends. It's all relative. It's just ... just ... Argh! Unfair. That's what it is.
OK, just voted for Tim. Now I'll feel bad all week. Then I'll vote for Neil and feel bad for another week. What have you DONE?!?!?! |
