Good to read your post TR, and that you had a stellar time! I was wondering when we'd get the TR Report Big Grin.

It definitely won't be Homebake for me either. Smiler

A Crowdies show or 3 in Melbourne again would work thanks Neil Smiler

I second that motion. Big Grin

Thanks also to yemanja and Finngirl for sharing their wonderful photo's. And if I hear yemanja refer to herself again as an "amateur photographer" I'm probably going to have to hold her down and tickle her Razzer Your photos are fantastic yem.

I also managed over there with the help of lovely New Zealanders who were willing to help me with my case when it needed picking up. It wasn't heavy by any means, but just too heavy for me. Frowner

Thanks for the refresher about Neil's parting shot yem, I had forgotten that. Cheeky so-and-so that he is. Big Grin I dare him to set the "next thing" up. Cool

I would very much hope that the Finn Brothers would perform another set of concerts like this, only next time can I request that they are during Victorian school holidays? Wink Big Grin Cool I still very much regret that my niece couldn't attend these shows. Frowner

Wherever you guys are next, we'll be there. Big Grin

Sorry - double post. Red Face

The TR report? Big Grin

I was champing at the bit to have my say, but although I logged in briefly while I was at work, I couldn't sit and write a full review. Razzer

Plus which, the reviews which were here were excellent. There's really nothing else I could have added.

Strangely for me this time around, I've found it hard to review. Anything that I could have said was already said in previous reviews, and said well, so there was no need to re-hash anything, but I was left feeling such an overwhelming sense of gratitude at having witnessed these shows, that when I sat down to do a review, I found it a bit overwhelming.

One thing I will comment on, which I've just thought of, and that is that none of the gigs were standing gigs. Not sure how the other girls felt about it, but it was almost like there was this unspoken respect about the shows; why we were there; why they were being performed etc.

I didn't feel for one second that I wanted to, or should be standing up.

Having said that, the venues were so small, and our seats were so good, that we really wouldn't have needed to stand up, but somehow these shows just did not have that feel about them.

Did anyone else feel that way?

We all stood up at the end of the two Hamilton shows when the guys were leaving the stage, and they did seem to enjoy that, but otherwise, I've never felt less like standing at a gig in all my life. Smiler

"Tim owes the sum of $___ (whatever he said) which dates back from 1967". The look on Tim's face was priceless, and Neil also noted it, because he said, "I had you going for a minute there". Big Grin It was great.

that sounds awesome Texas Rose wish I had been there (I was in Taupo about a week before..for those who dont know taupo is near Te Awamutu)
lets use a bit of colour! would have loved to be there it would have been great from what you guys have said about it, it was amazing the setlist looked great aswell

Thanks for the compliment TR. I just love taking pics of performers and especially ones that I admire as much as our Finn lads. Now to get some good ones of my Bruce... Wink

Also regarding your comments on being seated at the shows, I agree that this was the way it was and that standing and/or dancing was never really an option. Neil did invite people to their feet on the first night during I Got You and a few of our frenz were up there dancing up a storm, but it really wasn't something I came away from thinking that I missed out on. There were songs that I'm sure everyone in the audience were bopping along in their seats too, or maybe that was just me Wink. As I've said previously, I don't believe these shows could ever be topped for me, they were perfect in every way.

(Oh and it was $30 that Tim owed, don't ask me how I remember these obscure remarks considering I don't recall half the stories they told! I just remember thinking "$30, is that all!" lol)

There was definitely something different about Sunday night at the concert in Hamilton...
There was something different in the air ...maybe it was the intimate venue or Throw Your Arms Around Me.
In light of that concert I would like to dedicate this to someone special who was there that night ..even though they may never read it..

Maybe you'll know the truth
not when I'm there but when I'm gone
Yeah, when I'm gone
maybe it will come to you
If I'm still alive
when there's nothing more to lose
I make a promise to myself
no more lies
not how I wanted it to be
Time to let go
I'll let you forget
Got to make the music carry us through

Some things you hear too late.

Isn't it brilliant that Finn music can mean so many different things to so many different people? Smiler

And the Sunday night was special. I agree secretgirl, not sure whether it was TYAAM, but you could have cut the magic with a knife. Big Grin

I was having a read back through this thread just because it was bumped, and its fantastic to relive the excitement and everything that was going on when these shows were announced. Smiler

I had a real trip down memory lane. Smiler

I now have a mortgage so I probably won't be going back to NZ again in this lifetime. Frowner

But I still think that these shows will last me a lifetime.

I would love to see the Finn Brothers annouce another tour, either in Australia or New Zealand (or both - but having it in New Zealnd was really special) but even if I can't get to them, the shows I attended in 2008 were special and it was a treat to have been able to go.

Well, congratulations on the mortgage TR!

And I'm sure that the Melbourne Frenz can get you to go at least once more to NZ-it's just a matter of Persuasion.

When I win the lottery, and am a kazillionaire, I'll fly you all to NZ.

Is this legally binding?

It is now HF. Big Grin

I'll do the same then.

Yeah, the mortgage is kind of exciting in a weirdo way hk, but it will be restricting. I knew that when I took it on of course, but its not like I'm the only one who's got one. Razzer

However somehow, someway I would love to get to another SE/FB/TF show in NZ. Its being fanciful, but there is something magic about it happening over there. Smiler
