where else were they succesful ?
It wouldn't be Asia, Uk or Usa - they would lose money.
They would be succesful in New Zealand and Australia only.

they would not "lose" money if they toured in the uk, there would be a demand for them.especially due to the success of crowded house

Not sure where you're coming from - or going with - this albert, but have a look at the current tour. The dates have been pretty much sold out, and to support my point, people know they are getting a selection of Split Enz materials at the gigs. People want to hear this stuff.

And, to support your point, if such a tour was only going to be successful in Australia and New Zealand, well then, they limit their tour to Australia and New Zealand. What are they waiting for Big Grin (I know of a certain Canadian who would probably sell out a Canadian tour herself to get them there Razzer - hi HF Big Grin )

From what I've heard, Neil and Tim don't seem to be in a position where they're looking at world domination - sensible boys Wink - so I would imagine that a tour of this sort would be partly for them - the enjoyment etc - and partly for the fans - rewarding loyalty etc Smiler And however you may look at it albert, the loyalty is out there, in droves.

If Split Enz touring aint your cuppa, don't pick up the cup Wink

It can't happen soon enough for me Razzer

Much as I would love and encourage a major reformation tour, I don't really see it happening. Neil has enough on his plate already (hasn't he got another album to get on with?).

Despite Split Enz reforming on a regular basis, it's always been for one off concerts and short tours. Covering the world (and yes Albert, they were popular everywhere - they do have a sizeable cult following in the US making a tour there viable) is an expensive business and takes a long time to say the obvious. While I don't know what the other members have planned, it has to be a surefire thing for the Enz to commit to a tour on such a vast scale. Touring for the sake of touring is risky financially and I'm sure promoters would rather promote an act who has something to tour for (ie a new album).

Still, I'm happy to be proved wrong and the Enz do pack their bags for yet another reformation jaunt around the world.

greetings to all !
I guess I have been away a bit longer than I shouldve from the frenz board..... its been a year or so.......
I'm absolutely shocked that paul is gone.... we're very saddened and he will be sorely missed in our home.

I am excited though at all the talk about a possible tour...
a u.s. tour for any foreign '70/80s non mainstream band is risky especially after not producing/sending any new material our way for the amount of time they have.

sadly I guess the vast majority of americans never really "got" the split enz experience...

for me ,living in middle america circa '80 , split enz was an absolute musical awakening and changed forever the way I approached the guitar/writing and what I listened to....

I will add that america is going through some kind of major nostalgia '80's thing at this time...especially in the midwest.

I am hearing split enz and crowded house on the radio with frequency....along with a cast of new wave bands that were a major part of my adolesence.

this is great..., the guys should do a tour, even if only on a regional basis stateside.....

the last time I saw any of the guys was on crowded houses first u.s. tour
if I have to fly to auckland, melbourne or to europe, rest assured if the day comes that tour plans are announced, I will be planning a trip !!!

these guys are everything a band could ever hope to be...and everthing I aspired to be as a musician.

best regards, john wisconsin/usa

Well it seems that it is a vague possibility of at least an AU/NZ tour at some point.

The Melbourne Herald Sun "Hit" lift out had two Finn related pieces.

1/ In the what's hot and What's not the Bros scored #1 for the recent concerts with a wistful how about an Enz reuion tour?

2/ Another item where Tim and Noel at least have far from ruled it out.

So don't go getting faint but it's not a dead duck yet! If it went ahead I would expect a few Northern Hemisphere Frenz of the Enz to hit AU/NZ. Perhaps u cld start saving just in case?

What a good idea - seriously Big Grin

I think that if Split Enz did reform and do a tour, it would be an event worthy of following them to experience a concert in New Zealand. I don't have very many holidays due to equine restrictions so it would be an extra special thing to plan for Big Grin

If I start saving now I should have enough to attend - in another 30 years Eeker

Only kidding - I'd seriously consider making the trip to NZ though, as well as going to Melbourne shows etc.

In any case, its a very inspirational reason to get the savings happening Razzer

Hmm, would be nice to have a Frenz takeover of a concert in Auckland. We could all have name tags with our user names and be amazed at what we looked like etc......

Much nicer to be thinking of this today than doing a job application. Of course, if I don't do the job application, then I wouldn't be able to afford to go to any Enz concert. Sigh.
