Hey hey. Pretty random topic, but it's late and i've been training all week, so please excuse my whim for adding it.

I perform in a youth circus. Our end of year show is tomorrow (hence the training!) We chorigraphed our own performances, so, being me, i chose an Enz song to accompany mine. To start with, i didnt know whic one i wanted, and was tossing up between five; Never Ceases to Amaze Me, Give it a Whirl, Matinee Idyll, My Mistake and Hermitt McDermitt. Though my last preference, i ended up choosing Give it a Whirl, because it was easier to work into my act. However, the disc i gave in to make the complete track for the show still had the others on it.

The next day we heard the soundtrack right through. To my delight, our director (a lovely lady), had taken an immediate liking to Enz (which she had never heard before), and not only Give it a Whirl, but also Matinee Idyll and My Mistake made the final cut, outsting the other tracks which had been used for those performances in practice.

Like many Enz fans, particularly youngish ones, i get a little sick of the weird looks and questions everytime you go into a music shop for a Frenz related Cd, so i thought it might be nice for you guys to hear that it is being appreatiated (even if it is by circus people Wink)

Sorry again about posting the ravings of an acheing and sleep deprived person. Cheers. Nighty night! Big Grin

"Seven in heaven
who play a number of songs,
some short some long
Full of madness music and mirth
we blend? we find only in the
Enz of the Earth."

Start the circus troop music !!
Auckland 76 gig

or something like that, then the
Enz come out to some circus music.
So could't be a happier place for
their music to be.
Hope you had a great time.
How did the music & performance go?

got to ask, were you using the 2006 Hermitt McDermitt mix or the original?

Thanks for sharing that story with us, Kari. It's always a pleasure to hear of young folks getting into the Enz, particularly in such a unique way as you have. Good choice. Big Grin

That was well recalled, KT! Big Grin (As spoken by the legendary Selwyn Toogood, "By hokey, what'll it be folks, the money or the bag?!")

Hi Guys. Performance went well and was lots of fun, thanks. My Mistake was particulalry popular because it just went so well with the clowning routine it got matched with. I think it got a few laughs of its own accord, and people in the audience were definately bopping along to it (not to mention me dancing up and down backstage Wink).

Though Hermitt McDermitt didnt actually make it into the show ( Frowner) the version on the cd i was using was from the tour edition of Spellbound, so i suppose that would make it the 2006 mix? Whats the diff?

Thanks for the cool gig flashback Kelly! Early - mid Enz always look circusish (officially a word Wink) to me, and along with that reference, and the circus part in History Never Repeats, there was never any way i wouldnt have had them in my performance Smiler. Diffinately added to the show!

glad to hear you had fun! the spellbound version of Hermitt McDermitt is the Luton version so it's yet another mix, the 2006 mix was on the remixed Frenzy remaster
