Yes we go again sound quality is the problem being both a huge enz fan I am also mad about hi-fi.And sound quality is most important, it seems to me that
record companys dont care thats about it.As has been said before the first cds of second thoughts were an absolute disgrace. Imagine my horror to put it mildly when after makeing a trip to london from norfolk to buy an australian import of st only to get it home and find this awfull sounding cd.I could have cried,it has got better since then but it is still far from right.I have been comparing cds as I have buoght several copies of various titles in the hope that they will sound ok.Here in the uk I was lucky enough to get conflicting emotions on the A&M label and also true coluors which both sound fine, still looking for japanese cd of time and tide.ST released in uk as mental notes and dizrythmia have never been released in the uk on cd however you can get most of the tracks on two compilation cds best of split enz and the collection. But on the collection they have messed up big time.Track five they have called ''walking down the road''which is not only worded incorrectly, but is actually ''titus'' the australian version from mental notes. And track nine which is titeled as ''titus'',is in fact the last two minutes or so of the uk recoding of ''titus'' and not a complete track.Going back to conflicting emotions I also have it in the rear enz box set and on this cd left and right channels are changed around.well thats it I could go on, does anyone have any suggestions how we could make emi listen, to at least get mental notes(uk) and dizrythmia (uk)released on cd. As I would think the original master recordings are here in the uk. |

Didn't Eddie re-master all the Enz albums?
So his remastering (and in some cases remixing) wasn't good enough? Actually Keni has a point. I still prefer the original mix of Corroboree over the 2006 model. I think Mushroom's original CD issue of that is fine sound quality wise (of course the volume is a bit softer but that's easily fixed!). The jury is still out whether the remastering project was successful. Seeing how the re-issues didn't set the CD stores alight with anxious customers (you can still find the original digi-pak releases now heavily discounted in a lot of CD shops), I'd doubt if record companies will fall over themselves to re-issue them again. So basically it's put up and shut up from EMI (or whoever has the rights to the ENZ catalogue over there) |

dug out corroboree mid price master you're quite right sound quality is spot on. It also made me give dizrythmia digipack issue a closer listen and after comparing with older cds I think its certainly different but gets the thumbs up time and tide is also good.Havent got latest frenzy has it been remixed as well as remasterd

I would love to hear a remotely passable mix of Frenzy. The CD that came with the "Enz of the 70s" box set was awful. Such great songs, too - an awful waste.
I had the impression that it just didn't come together in the studio for whatever reason, but if a remaster can improve it at all I'd love to get my hands on it. -- > _ "and when you're in the moment, everything you want is right." we can choose what we choose to believe. |

I think the remixed remastered Frenzy sounds much better, it is revealed as a really vibrant album. It is available from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Frenzy-Split-Enz/dp/B000M7FOHU/re...d=1209769138&sr=1-11 Or from Marbecks: http://www.marbecks.co.nz/detail/index.lsd?catalogID=310283 I love the remastered version. If you've listened to Enzology you'll know that the original producer wasn't very good. I figure that's why Eddie Remixed it. If you haven't listened to Enzology you'll need to, they can be downloaded from here: feed://www.radionz.co.nz/podcasts/enzology.rss |

The remix of Frenzy is far better than the original (IMO). The problem with it, and the rest of the remasters, is the LOUD mastering that is so ruining contemporary releases.
