I apologise in advance if this is not in the right spot, but I guess the moderators will move it if not.

I was wondering if someone on the forum may be able to help me out a bit regarding ticket purchasing.

I can't line up at the outlets, as I live too far away, so purchasing online or by phone are the only options for me.

My problem is that I have a Bank Of Melbourne/Westpac Visa debit card, and I have been rail-roaded twice by ticketek via email and once by phone about whether they can actually accept this card as payment online or by phone for the Adelaide show.

My bank assures me that my card should work, but I've tried it on another site and it doesn't.
Ticketek's very helpful *cough* online help desk has said "Yes, we do accept Visa cards, and all major credit cards" and their phone service said "It should work, but you'd have to try it on the day, as we can't confirm it unless you try and book something"

I don't wish to book any other shows beforehand and I most certainly don't wish to wait till the 22nd only to find out that it's not going to work and I can't get tickets.

I was wondering if anyone else here has had a similar experience to this and also how they got around it, if they got around it.

All I can suggest is ring the ticketing agency and ask them if they accept your card prior to the tickets going on sale.

I did today, and they told me "It should work, but you'd have to try it on the day, as we can't confirm it unless you try and book something"

So I'm still none the wiser.

Oh Fizzy i'd be going to an agency first or phone, forget the internet.

Found with Simple Minds tickets they didn't go on line till 20 past the hour of sale & only phone purchases were going through.

But that was a few weeks after the U2 fiasco with tickets and eBay !!

Otherwise annoy the bejezzzuz out of family or friends and have the cash ready to back up their visa card.

Where there's a will there's a way.

Yes, I did! It was more down to good luck than good management on my part though. LOL

Long story short though, it involves a bank that doesn't know it's job and a very nice call centre lady who did their job for them while I was online trying to purchase my ticket.
