Frenz

just received 4 more pieces for the Enz Archives.
Thought I'd check to see how many of you have these and if there are some missing.

We just received FOUR Split Enz swap cards (like Bubble Gum cards). These are from Holland, 1976.

The swap card series was called PUNK-The New Wave.

The four Enz cards we have are as follows:

1/ A live close up shot of Noel (looking very angelic I might add).

2/ A group shot-the infamous Wooden Teeth Mental Notes shot.

3/ A group shot from the session (John Prew) that was used on the overseas Mental Notes LP.
Kinda weird as they are all decked out in the cossies AND SMILING....nice though as you see more of Noel and Eddies costume in this shot.

4/ Live shot (Robert on sax.. Eddie on keys) once more 76 shot.

So are there more then 4 Split Enz cards in this batch? How many of you have these, be nice to know how rare they are.

Thanks Gryph.

Wow are we the only people who have these, starting to think they are fairly rare because of the lack of comments?

Never even heard of them, let alone sighted one. Holland 1976? I'd say there wouldn't be many of those around. I remember my sisters having Abba bubblegum cards, & even some *gulp* Bay City Rollers ones *yikes* (there's a time warp for you!) but i can't remember any Split Enz Swap cards??!! Guess the bubblegum's long gone. Big Grin

Could be time for a new set of Split Enz Bubblegum Cards Gryph. With bubblegum of course.

Vicious Sloth Collectables are currently offering a set of *five* of these cards (and at a rather expensive price too). No pictures or descriptions though.

I've seen various ones pop up on eBay every couple of months, but I honestly couldn't tell you whether there's many of them or not.

What I can tell you is that, these have been popping up semi-regularly for a few years. I've never bought any though, the prices were always a little high.

I couldn't actually find them using your link Flicker, so possibly someone has seen that and snapped them up Eeker

I wanted to see the price.

I saw the price of the other items Eeker

I may keep an eye on Ebay since ::iarla:: has seen them there. I probably couldn't afford them, but now that I know about them, I'd like to at least see what they look like.

At least Roll Eyes

Editing this to say that I did find the cards. Eeker $150.00

According to the site the condition is "M" (which I would take to be medium, since other listings are VG (very good?), E (excellent?) etc.

I'd like these cards but I'd want them in excellent condition for that price.

The VSC site is not terribly user friendly, but the cards are still there for $A150 under "Other Memorabilia"

Hey thanks guys, at least I know there is one more. I got them for a really good price (a mere $20) especially compared to $150!!!) They are not worth $150, but I guess that also depends on how you value your collection.
Vicious Sloth tend to always go for the kill price wise, don't think we have ever bought anything from them. Sounds like you might have a betetr chance on Ebay.
Thanks for getting back to me on this.

Gryphon, there are five cards. The fifth is a head shot of Phil at the microphone, gazing skyward. These pop up individually on eBay from time to time, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get ... Roll Eyes

Yeah, Vicious Sloth are generally overpriced, although I was pleased to get the BBC Hammersmith concert LP from them a few years ago.

Texas Rose - I think "M" stands for "Mint Condition"

Oh thanks Flicker. I didn't even think of "M" being for "Mint" Cool I did look for a legend (or explanation of their gradings) but couldn't find one.

Even so, $150.00 is a lot of money.

I notice they have an address in Malvern, so I'll drop in next time I'm visiting my parents to see if the cards are actually held at the Malvern premises.

AUD$150! Eeker Tell em they're dreamin'.

Still, if you get a full set Gryph, any chance of a reprint of the set?

I'm sure Scanlens or Wriggley's would want to jump on board with the old stick of gum.

I am guessing that the only way to approach a vicious sloth, *gulp* is with a great deal of caution, & a credit card without a limit!

Yeah $150 is a lot, and to be honest the quality is really average at best......thanks Tall Trees on the 5th shot. If one ever comes up on Ebay could someone just let us know, be good to have them all in the archives. Not life or death but good to have as a reference.

Thanks everyone
Gryph.

Hey Gryph, I am currently going through a lot of old threads for something to do & I was just wondering if you ever found the 5th card for the archives yet.

If not, There are 4 currently on Ebay all being sold as separate items. There is one Live shot of Eddie that you don't seem to have in your collection that you mentioned in this thread all those years ago. All cards are going for the bargain price of $5.45 + postage (Buy It Now) from USA & they end in 3 days or so.

hey thanks Enzboy. Yes we did get the 5th card, but a rather beat up version, so it's nice to grab a better mint version for the archives.

Yes cheap prices considering what some have previously been offered at.

Anyway thanks again for thinking of us.
