Something So Strong

SO GOOD! The Auckland shows were so good. I'm so happy I made it over to NZ. TBH I did expect more people to dress up and felt slightly strange in my costume (if you spotted me, I was in a yellow shirt and black shorts on the first night, and a red polka dot dress on the second) but it was all so much fun. Hearing Carried Away last night was such a treat too. I'm feeling slightly melancholic that it may be the last time I see the Enz, but considering they broke up before I was born I'm still pretty lucky eh Big Grin It was lovely to meet so many fantastic Frenz and I hope to see you all on the next tour, whatever and wherever it may be...

As I have mentioned to Kelly Timtam, I didn't intend on doing a duet with Tim on 'Stuff And Nonsense' (see You Tube). Big Grin

Haven't been on the forums for a year or so now but had to jump back in. The show was all I expected and more!

I saw a couple of you around - Finngirl I loved the outfit. ( I was a couple of rows behind you). In fact I think I saw all of the girls around.

Anyone know the story about the guy jumping up on stage during 'I See Red'? Did he just climb up from the front row?

I know we've just had One Out Of The Bag/Short And Sweet, but I hope there is a DVD of this tour...

It was weird little episode, I didn't see how he got on stage ... he was a youngish, dark-haired man wearing a waistcoat, he seemed to come out of nowhere and started dancing around Tim and Neil. The Enz members didn't look startled (professional cool I guess) and I thought at first it might be Liam Finn making a guest appearance. Smiler But at the end of the song the guy was dragged off by the stage crew so I'm guessing it wasn't planned. Tim and Neil didn't make any comment afterwards.

A very welcome suprise having "Carried Away" there last night. I'll have to double check but I think they did perform that in concerts in 1979. And which song was the one with a few notes of "Stranger Than Ficiton" thrown in? "Double Happy"?

I had put off watching the "One Out of the Bag" until today. Quite glad of that, as I was unaware we'd be hearing "129" stripped back to just mandolin and keyboards, as was the wonderful "Titus". A treat to hear "Devil You Know" in a more suitable arrangement than that on the original album.

We've got to meet up one of these days, Flicker, being in the same city'n'all. I too recognised Texas Rose & co from Semi-D's photo but I have no idea what you like! Cheers to everyone I was fortunate to enough to meet yesterday.

As you know, my darling husband took some pretty special pictures too. He's very proud of them, and I think he's done a fantastic job. Here's the link to the ones from Wellington.

I think they're fantastic. Also on a bit of a bigger camera. I'm having trouble deciding which one to use as an avatar! Please comment on them on the flickr account too. Enjoy!

Cheers!!!

For the people who emailed me...yes it was a different coloured bag for NZ (orange satin) the 'entrance' lighting might of made it a different colour for some of you.

One of my more fun jobs was getting the band in that sack from backstage to onstage. They'd all climb in, Nigel was always last... usually Michael B and Neil at the front.... that excellent red stage torch from my fave Frenz led the way... I'd call out the steps, ramps, speed bumps... it was like leading some blind alien creature from The Blob movie...

The Auckland ramp seemed steeper and I think some slippery shoes didn't help but some huffing and puffing and they made it up.

The bag then took on a life of it's own...like the worlds biggest jello creation..and the Enz were spewed forth.

Our favourite long term Enz crew person Dugald grabs the bag and they burst into Shark Attack.

It's just a surreal moment hearing them all inside the bag as they wobbled towards the stage
always good medicine for a long day leading up to the gig.

A nice touch ripping each other's suits after the bow on Saturday night. A tussle with Eddie saw Neil fall to the stage floor right at the end.
