A must have for any Split Enz fan really. Great interviews, & insights into life as a member of the Enz. Lots of photos, & some great colour ones as well. An extensive list of live Enz Dates from 1974 till 2006 (ie the recent ones), & some hilarious interview moments. 5 stars!
If it was an amp, you'd want to turn it up to Eleven.

One of my favourite questions in the book:

PG: Noel Crombie Man Or Myth?

& the answer....you'll have to get it & find out now, won't you. Wink

The Sydney Morning Gerald says "spectacular"
The Melbourne rAge says "a brilliant work"
The Bicycle Couriers Mail said "sENZsational"
Thee Land said "not a single sheep in it, but great anyway. refreshing"
USA Today/Tomorrow/& The Day After That Too said "whadayamean its still in the mail?! Well, that's just great"

Congratulations Peter, a fantastic book, & more than worth the wait. On behalf of everyone, i'd just like to take this opportunity to say
thank you, thank you, thank you. Cool

great book, loved paul and nigel's interviews and the collector's list, you made me buy one of those jigsaws! i also like the colour photo section cause it stopped me feeling guilty over cutting out the frenz application from the tour program. can i ask, is there anywhere i can get "sleeper"?

Sorry Gryph,
Very remis of me.

The Wollongong (via Dapto) Mercury says "we agree with the Dapto review"
The Dapto Daily said, "If you buy only one book this year, make it this one. Suppurlatives could never do it enough justice...& we agree with the Mercury!"

The Tasmanian Times said "grab this book before it goes the way of the the Thylacine..ie not there anymore".

How true is this! Big Grin Very funny, Seany.

Greatfox, I hope you get a copy of Sleeper. It's a fantastic album, in my opinion. It's not one I would have known to get had it been released to stores, the style being different than my normal listening, but I really enjoy it.

It is a fantastic book, all the interviews were great. I only got to have a quick read of it before I left Australia so already I can't remember many specifics. Roll Eyes

I have left my Letters to my Frenz and my tour program back in Australia (to keep them safe from the heat/humidity) so I can't check but I think that I noticed in my quick reading of LTF that some of the band members Fav Split Enz albums were different from the ones in the tour prgram.

I wonder what the time difference between their answers were for LTMF and the tour program and if they were different because of the remasters. Do the interviews in LTMF have a date on them?

The Interviews were done over a wide range of time...Phil's was probably the last to be done...Hessies a month or so before his death I think... Neil and Tim and Eddies around the recording of the Finn Brothers album, I think after the Visconti sessions but before the 2nd batch of recordings....done in NZ though..as I remember Neil having to run into the studio, and hey got to hear the Finn Bros stuff very early on so it was a reward in part......the rest scattered over a 2 year period. Nigel hadd been working on his Interview for a year on and off, and it just reads so well.

Thanks for the kind words Fab Forty as long as its' not a leaky boat you'll be fine (: The book is one of those things that just felt right, especially around the club....and the Frenz.

Cheers
PG

Wow. I had no idea the Hessie interview was that recent. I had visions of it being done long ago - not too sure why though! I'm just thrilled to see that I was wrong.

What an incredibly precious perspective....thanks for sharing it (and the rest of the book) with us Peter! Big Grin

Best part of the book has got to be... well four things:
1. Neil's Q & A.
2. Paul Hester's interview - The part about how he started with Split Enz and about having Tim as a landlord...
3. All the pics both colour and B&W, and finally
4. Pages 96-97. Especially Noel's "Deer Frenz, Juz a kwik noit..." Wanna know the rest????? Well, you just have to get one of these books and find out for yourself!Big Grin

Sorry, five things.
5. Reading Tim Finn's interview whilst listening to 'I Hope I Never' on the Enz DVD last night. Wink In my mind I could actually hear his voice saying the words as I read them only to have this video clip start. Eeker Oh well, nothing like having a private mental echo! Roll Eyes
No wonder I ended up shuting the DVD off and muting the T.V just so that I could read the rest without having this annoying echo in my mind.

Fantastic work PG. 10 out of 10.Big Grin

Got mine today! WOO HOOO!

Thank you, Peter! Would have arrived even earlier but their's some sticker on it about aviation customs checking it and delaying it. Why???? It says it's a book, and voila, inside is a book! Eeker

It's 5pm, do you think that's too early to go to bed with a good book? Big Grin

our horrid PM is probably checking each and every one for WMD's sometimes a cigar is just a cigar....despite Freud...sometimes a book is just a book, but hey this one is MORE then a book *GRIN* maybe I should stop writing "more then a book' on the customs description (:

However it's likely to be because several hundred were mailed at the red roadside boxes outside the Kalorama General store at 3.00 in the morning, and it means the Aussie Post people didn't get ID from me (like they do when you mail across the counter). Oddly enough because of the size of the parcel/weight you probably dont even need to put on a customs form (same with CDS) I just do it so they know it's a cigar (opps I meant book) inside.... still it delays them by one day and you get a silly sticker on the front (for free from Aust Post).

So a few may have the sticker...

Mailed the very last lot of books an hour ago, including the first lot of Frenz.Com orders from Deb...(Phew).

As soon as the 2nd batch of Frenz.Com orders come in I will have an idea of how little stock we have left, for any late comers who are ordering.

Thanks and enjoy
Gryphon of Ailsa Craig.
