Mal Green lives in Sydney and now plays in an R&B duo called "Gumbo" (they toured NZ recently).

Dagreek, are you serious? You really think Escapade is Tim's best solo album.

Escapade is a plesant enough album, but far from being Tim's best solo effort. Most people would probably agree that Tim's best solos are his self titled one (1989) and Say It Is So (1999). Roll Eyes Mad Big Grin Red Face Eeker Cool

Hey!

Well....I have to say, that Escapade is no way Tims best album! And I have to say that although most people think the 'Tim Finn' album is his best....I rate it as nearly his worst.

I know I should only judge it on the songs, but mitchell frooms producing really annoys me! I just hate his style, and I think he ruined that record alone!

I really like Before & After.....Big Canoe is cool....and of course 'Say it is so'!

But the bestest of the bestest.....is ALT!

Its not really a solo album...but its his best work!

Tim rocks!

Yeah, Altitude by ALT is a great album. I love it's loose feel. It's a really warm irish album.

I hope one day that they make another studio album.

Donovan, you seem to be a pretty big Tim fan, like myself. What do you think of Steel City (the album). I love it. It's really heavy and shows Tim's ability to compose and play very complex pieces of music.

Steel City album hey.....Hmmm, let me think.

do do doo do ooh ooh ooh/

ok. I quite like it. Especially Track 2...the overture. That 'rocks' in the true sence of the word!

I like the version of roadtrip a lot better than the Say It Is So version. I think it works best as an acoustic type number., all those effects just make the whole feel way too crowded.

And Glide is great!

Overall.....I dont consider it his best work...but its pretty damn good. It makes me play air guitar anyway! Most of the songs were going to be on Say It is So right?? And then he decided he hated them and recorded a whole new album.....

Even Tims throw-aways are great!

Speaking of tim.....I just rediscovered my love for 'Without a doubt'. Tim in the late 70's.....music doesnt get any better from anyone!

Getting Somewhere

I agree that 70's Tim was pretty hot, however I wasn't too thrilled with his solo stuff. For me the magical moment was when they had the make up, costumes, hair, PHIL JUDD. By the time they came up with the non-makeup, JUDD-less look in 1980 and I Got You (I know, some folks think it's great) I had lost interest. I bought Tim's solos hoping for some of that magic but it wasn't there. No biggie, things change. I did retain Big Canoe because Phil had a little something to do with it, but the others had to go.

I agree with Jeremy, Tim Finn and Say It Is So are Tim's best solo ventures, with Before & After coming a close 3rd. I do like Escapade however much more than Big Canoe.
It's too tough decide on my fave Enz album... It's either Mental Notes/Second Thoughts/True Colours/Waiata(Corroborree)/Time and Tide/Conflicting Emotions... I like the 80's stuff more as albums and the 70's stuff more as songs...
Fave Crowded House album... Temple Of Low Men. Without a Doubt.

Hi Bono.

I've always had a soft spot for TOLM too. As I've said plenty of times in the forums, my two favourite CH albums are Woodface and TOLM.

There is another extra dimension to TOLM that no-one ever notices or writes about. Tim's backing vocals. Just like (later) on Woodface, the four part harmonies of Neil, Paul, Nick and Tim give the songs that extra special feeling of magic.
