hmm not sure who is to blame around the menu problem...

Not my project this one, I did receive a dvdr but it was from much earlier on (even different tracks) and the menu worked fine...

It just seems to happen a bit too much these days with a few dvds from several bands...not just the Enz... the original Enz dvd that we worked on ages ago works ok menu wise...and to be honest in many ways it's more complicated with easter eggs etc... anyway we'll know more soon I think.

when I hear more you will know .... and remember on this one I'm just the messenger. (no shooting of Gryphons)

I'm just glad we decided to focus on Luton first, imagine the nightmare sending out all club copies and having to return them etc... so a good call.

Fair call on everything you said, Gryph.

Overall the packaging was great - as close to the original LPs as possible, and when you can't access the original paintings, photos or whatever, you have to make do. I personally thought the Frenzy cover looked great, and yeah some covers were a little grainy, but that's minor in the big picture. The positives far outweight the negatives.

Looked at as one whole "thing", the Enz remasters were a great achievement, a huge success, and everyone involved pulled it off well considering any restraints they may have had. Dare I say it's a landmark for any New Zealand artist. At least it happened. We should be grateful Warner Music bought the Enz catalogue...if not, we'd likely still be waiting for a catalogue overhaul.

Great work.

Ah ... so it's not just my copy then! I was almost wondering if it was my DVD player that was having a problem - hadn't got around to trying it on another player.

Oh well, I noticed if I played from "Message to My Girl" it continued just fine. I'll take the tip and just play from the first song next time.

No biggie! I've seen worse problems

The covers and booklets are secondary, and I bought the CDs because they sound good and they work, there's no doubting that and I'm not complaining, it was a passing comment and a fair one I think.

The mid price master may have been a bit washed out, but at least everyone wasn't stretched to look like Bert Newton Big Grin (and I remember what the mid price masters looked like because I still have them).

I certainly wasn't laying the blame at your door Peter, it was simply a passing comment, the important thing - the discs and the music on them are great, and I'll probably never look at the Frenzy cover again.

I also don't care about the glitch in the Enz DVD, I can still watch it all seamlessly by selecting the first song, it's very very minor.

Yeah my copy also goes back to the main menu after "Double Happy". Not sure if you can blame Warners for that, rather whoever authored it. When Warner receives a master for manufacture, I'm sure they'd assume everything was 100% on the technical level.

I'm also sure they have received complaints and working on the error. It's a minor yet inconvenient glitch, one that is easy to fix using a remote control.

As for the remastered CDs, I must admit I was surprised with the lack of new sleevenotes but overall the packaging is just fine by me. The fact that a local band (with all respect to the Kiwis out there!) have had their entire back catalogue remastered is a minor miracle considering how a lot of big name Australian acts still have crap CD masters out there. Some don't even have their catalogue on CD or else are bloody hard to find.

yeah I agree, I just wish we had bigger time windows on these things... but end of the day just happy that Frenzy etc got the release it did.

DVD some sort of authoring problem....David has contacted Warners-Mushroom and is onto it, will be worked out. I've obviously had a lot of emails from the general public too on this.... as soon as I know more will try and post.

Don't panic though, my main concern is that club members who get it through us get a menu copy that works !!!

Thanks for being patient

I have tried the suggestion of selecting the 1st song & letting it play rather then use the Play All function still no luck.

I find this situation all very weird regarding the Enz & live tours etc.

In 93 they had the last gig in Auckland filmed but someone did not check to see if the sound was recording along with the film.Shark Attack was the only song the Enz decided to rescue & pay to have the audio from another gig synched up to the Auckland video.

In my opinion this was a real shame as judging from Extravagenza this tour was far superior to the Aust 2006 tour in performance energy, sheer excitement & raw power.I can see why the Enz do not want to use Mal for the NZ 2008 tour, putting it bluntly he has as much power & energy on the drums as my 85 year old grandfather would have if he was doing the drums.

For the 99/2000 gigs they were filmed but the editing was not up to scratch,so more film gathers dust.

Now this debacle with a Live DVD that has actually made it to the shops, so close but yet so far.

I really think Warners have no defence, with the 1st DVD that Peter & Mushroom did it was filled with video, still images, easter eggs & a really busy menu & that worked a treat. The current live DVD has one of the most basic menu's i have ever seen & still Warners can't make it work.

Someone at the Enz management office needs to actually start looking at the ralationship with Warners & see if they are a suitable vehicle for Enz products.Because you would have to say with the Frenzy/See you Around wrong track info on the artwork & now this the care factor at Warners seems to be zero.

Anyway i am off to exchnge the ENZ DVd for the new NIRVANA unplugged DVD.

I didn't think it was that the audio wasn't recorded, I thought it was that the company that owned the footage was bankrupt and the footage was held up in the legal negotiations. I would have thought that all gigs would have been recorded from that tour so it wouldn't be that hard to synch up the audio from the same gig to the pictures if that is what was wrong.

99/00 I thought that it wasn't the editing it was a combination of the filiming being boring and the performance itself not being up to scratch.

Although the official NZ release date was November 12th I haven't seen any in Dunedin music stores. I'm hoping that they have been delayed so the remaining copies have been withdrawn and replacements getting reauthored.

Maybe I should just wait until February 08 and buy it then. There should be replacement DVDs in stores by then surely. Until then I'll just listen to Extravagenza

Do any of you know if this DVD, in PAL and coded 'region 0' will play on my Apple computer here in Canada? For some reason I thought that the coding and region settings only applied to stand alone DVD players.

Thanks,
Bogue.

I am in Toronto and I have been able to play it on my PC. I would think that it should then work on a Apple.

Thanks,

Computers also have region coding on their dvd drives, however you are allowed to change it a limited number of times, usually 5 or 6
