I've had a quick scan, but I don't think this has been mentioned elsewhere (sorry if it has)... but what is this?

Says it will be released on the 26th February. Anyone know anything about it?

Interesting ... I just googled the catalog number (SFMCD044) listed there and found a slightly more detailed listing on the Freak Emporium site:

quote:
Eighteen track live album highlighting the popular Australians [!!!] various trips to America. Includes: "You Can Lead A Horse To Water", "Missing Person", "Twist And Shout" and "Hard Act To Follow." Due In: 26/03/2007

The label is listed as the "Store of Music", whoever they are.

This sounds like it could be selections from one show rather than various, the 'Halloween' show from 31/10/80 looking at the stated tracks. Setlist was as follows:- Double Happy / Hard Act To Follow / Poor Boy / Missing Person / Hermit McDermitt / Ghost Girl / I Don't Wanna Dance / I Wouldn't Dream Of It / Nobody Takes Me Seriously / I Hope I Never / I Got You / What's The Matter With You / I See Red / Lead A Horse To Water / Shark Attack / Twist And Shout / My Mistake.

Quite why it's listed for release baffles me. Perhaps Peter should be alerted?

Gryphon?

I've just done a check on most Oz online retailers that I can think of. As far as they are concerned, this release does not exist.
Gryphon? Can you please fill us in if you know about this?

I'm just speculating here but could it be a release using a radio stations broadcast recording of a live concert? Looking at some other cds on the same label on the HMV site there are three other "Live in America" titles.

The Hallowen show sounds to me like it could have been a concert from Radio as it's a pretty good recording.

In any event more Enz can never be too much Big Grin

This to me looks like it's the Halloween 1980 show.

It's either one of two things.

1) An unauthorised boot, in which case, avoid it like the plague. This show is widely availible in trading circles, and that's most likely where it came from if it's a boot.

2) A release as part of a radio station licensing all the live shows they recorded, in which case, wait and see.

If the artwork is anything to go by... looks dodgy to me! Is this someone's weird interpretation of True Colours??

If it is going to be released, I'm all in favour of it - I love that Halloween show!

As for the artwork, it looks like '80s-style graphics superimposed over a photo of a bowl of Froot Loops!

Hmm.. .the freak emporium site makes it look dodgy, but maybe I'm naive thinking that if this is something that appears on HMV website could it really be some dodgy bootleg??

Maybe it could I guess.... but I'm inclined to go for the "radio station release" idea...

The only USA show I've come across with "Twist and Shout" is the Denver 1980 one.

A bootleg? I was afraid of that. Might've been nice to see an official release.

It would've been awesome to see an official release. Love this show and absolutely love the Horse To Water...Tim's voice might be a bit knackered or something by the end but it works and Eddie's piano is awesome. Great setlist (but mine doesn't have My Mistake either)

I'll bow to those with a superior knowledge of this but surely HMV wouldn't be advertising a bootleg Confused

The label itself seems to have other cds/dvds which are being sold on the site - can't all be bootlegs can they.

Oh well just have to see!!

That was my thought Paul... but if Jaffa says it's a bootleg then I believe him...pity it's not some genuine release though... would have been nice to have that.
