Of course the problem here is that they are offering something that will very likely never get an official release. Naturally rabid fans wanting to get as much music as possible will leap for it... this is the problem, & I guarantee half the people on here who say they won't be getting it probably will. I've been guilty of buying bootlegs in the past, purely because this is music that I will never get a chance to hear otherwise.
I've had this show for a while, so I can be one of those who honestly say I won't be
How to solve this? Get the Enz boys to take action & stop the sale, then make this show an offical release, because it really is a top show.
Sadly that'll never happen though...

The other problem would be the quality of the recording. If it's a bootleg it's possible it's an audience recording. There may not be a good enough quality recording out there to justify an official release.
The Enz boys can try and stop it, but a lot of the time it takes too long going through the lawyers etc. that the damage is done well before anything happens. Not to say that they shouldn't try, but I don't think there is an easy solution for this one especially with this being sold by big names like HMV.

A couple of years ago a reel-to-reel (master?) tape of this was sold on ebay.
Jaffaman, maybe you were thinking of the Philadelphia show on reel-to-reel? Although the set was shortened and the running order rearranged, this was an fm broadcast which to my ears appears to have been lifted from the Hamilton, Ontario show. It does feature actual Philadelphia pre and post show interviews with a very quick and witty Tim.

Yeah this one didn't come from the band (what a horrible cover) we thought it might be good to wait till we had copies in our hands before taking it to the next (legal) step.... but yep we are onto it......
pretty perverse to sell it through HMV, Amazon etc.......

Found this in Real Groovy in Auckland today. Not totally surprising as they also have Crowded House live bootlegs and other dubious Split Enz compilations, but sad nonetheless.

Is 'What A Mess' Message Boy? Found this in JB Hifi in Perth today, and bought it. Great version of Hermit McDermitt (makes my voice go croaky from shouting!)
