I've only just turned 20 and obviously never had the chance to see Split Enz so a tour would be great in my mind - It could also include some new or rekindled material (though an album would most likely be out of the question). The only bad thing is that such a tour would be unlikely to stretch beyond New Zealand.

I've been out of the loop posting for some time, but felt I had to comment on this one...
Just heard the new Phil Judd track and like the rest of the new ones its fantastic. On this form PHil would be an absolutely essentila part of any Enz reunion, and as shuch should be part of the Hall of Fame induction... well thats if he wants to be and the rest opf the guys want him there too.. here's hoping! |

Sorry I have to bite. (That was surely Silent Stream's intention , and this little barracudas nostrils are flaring and he has been sent into a feeding frenzy...
How many of you people have long regretted not seeing a band you came to love or respect later in life? Sometimes after the band had long since folded (often a key member dies unexpectedly). Maybe the opportunity was there to see them at their most popular but it slipped through personal choice at the time- or circumstance. Regret that stays with you of that sort is a prize bitch . I have suffered similarly in the case of a number of bands , (fortunately Split Enz were not in this category for me )- , but trust me there are plenty of people out there who never got their Enz fix the way so may posters in this forum did . They remain hopeful and are ever poised . There are those of us too, who believe that there is a period where artists (actually all people in all spheres) are in the zone and did their best work. The view that an artist must constantly move on , not dwell in the past and shun the commercial success they earnt sounds like it has more of a basis in a self help book for those who cant accept their humanity and frailties, (and the bloody scourge of just plain growing old ). I would be very keen to know how many losers compared to winners there would be if Split Enz chose to reform and tour. These isolationist views smack of elitism, a rubbery hold on the real world and a significant degree of selfishness. I sure would like to take my teenage son to see them play , (and I dont mean their undiscovered by the ignoramuses masterpieces). Im talking their commercial work that made the famous and wealthy ( and for a very good reason). Spleen vented. First ever post in this forum completed . |
