Something So Strong |
Well, I suppose it was a forgone conclusion that we would be left with Time & Tide and True Colours. Didn't even have to go through the rest of that, eh? Well, I think it was worth the exercise anyway. Who knew that we really couldn't agree on this topic. I thought it was obvious, but I guess not.
So, to settle things once and for all . . . Thus far, Second Thoughts, See Ya 'Round, Conflicting Emotions, Waiata, Mental Notes, Frenzy, and most recently Dizrythmia were eliminated from the competition. I was a bit surprised by the order in which they were eliminated, but so it goes. Your job, then, is to choose the album that is to be elminated from this last round. The last album standing will be declared "Enz Album Survivor," for whatever that's worth. Thank you all for humouring me. I would encourage any of you participating to make the case for either album still in the competition. Actually giving the albums a fresh listen might help a bit too, because both have hidden gems that are often overlooked. Have fun. Glen |

This is it. Death to the finish. I could've guessed these two would be the ones left standing (and neither is my particular fave but ah well...).
It's sure been an interesting exercise. God help us if they did this with Crowded House... |

I thought that TC and T&T would be the last two standing. These two are actually my two favourite albums by the enz, but the choice wasn't hard at all for me. True Colours, as well as being their best selling album is also a brilliant rock album filled with catchy songs and I will always love it to death. But on Time & Tide Tim lays bare his soul to us. The songs on display here are both disturbing and uplifting at the same time and somehow wraps them up in the most amazing of sonic delights. The autobiographical ses shanty of Haul Away, the pure pop of Six Months and the unrelenting funk of Dirty Creature. Neil also gives us the rocking hello Sandy Allen and the classically claustraphobic Log Cabin Fever. |

I'll let someone else take care of that! Together Alone would win anyway. |

I've really enjoyed these polls (thanks again gph) but does anyone else feel it's a bit of an anti-climax? Before it started, you figured that these 2 would be the last ones standing, but along the way there's been all the drama of upsets & potential upsets.
The order that the albums went out brought up quite a few surprises for me (didn't think Second Thoughts would be first. Then again, I was gunning for Waiata from the beginning) Dizrythmia hanging in there until the last round was awesome though, and who'd have thought Frenzy'd make it that far (those 2 were my first Enz albums, so I'll always have a soft spot for them) In the end, looks like the best album is going to win though, as it should. All is right with the world Tho' it would have been fun if Frenzy had won - if only to see the apoplectic posts from Iarla & Camus... |
