Am I the only one excited about what Neil said after performing "I Got You" during the Crowdies last night at the Orpheum. Something along the lines of "perhaps you'll see the Enz on this stage...well maybe not this one but one nearby".

Doesn't that mean venues are being considered? Or at least a tour in being seriously contemplated?

Or am I reading way too much into it? But Neil doesn't usually just drop comments like that out of the blue.

I guess I'd be excited if I knew for sure it would happen. I hope it will, and I would die with a greater sense of fulfillment if it did, and I got to go. I say that only partially to be funny, because I loved the ENZ and one of my big regrets is not going to see them in Hamilton when I had the chance, back in 1982.

If they did tour N.A. I can't imagine them giving Toronto a miss.

Even if it doesn't eventuate, I can't see Neil saying something like that if it wasn't being seriously considered.

Personally I think the Enz would like to see it happen, but it may just come down to all the members being able to be in the right place at the right time.

It would be exciting, that's for sure. Big Grin

I'm in Australia, and I think that if they played anywhere over there, I'd have to contemplate going. Eeker And I'd have to contemplate taking dA-buP with me. Wink

If its going to happen, I hope it'll be a little way in the future. If they announced it tomorrow for later in the year, or something like that, it would be impossible for us. Smiler

If Split Enz announced a gig anywhere in North America..I'd move heaven and earth to be there.

I suspect that there may not be a full blown tour (although, that would be fab) I'm almost thinking that ... like Tim Finn this autumn...the west coast would be the recipient of most of the shows or "THE" show

On the other hand--bringing the band and all the personel and equiptment necessary to make any show happen--seems to demand more than one concert to make the endeavour worthwhile. I can't see them coming all this way just to do one show. On the other hand..I somehow can't see them doing a 3 week 18 city tour either.

I'm also NOT COMPLAINING! sort of puzzled because I thought I had heard Neil poo-poo the whole thing last summer after a show to a bunch of people who were asking him about the possibility

Course...I could be wrong. I frequently am Big Grin

You know.... I heard a little birdy whispering about a 'tour' of North America when I was in NZ for the guys there(some incarnation of Enz anyway)er.. I did'nt quite know if I was having my leg pulled.... or..... well. yeah. I could'nt say any more even if I knew more lol

I really really really hope this happens, I would LOVE for you wonderful people to see the guys over there

will I sound like a horrible, selfish person if I say late 2009 would be good if this were to happen (I might have a tiny chance of going then)

*oh and the said birdy was not an actual Enz member btw*

Yeah, the possibility of an Enz concert in your part of the world does have this effect on you. Smiler

If I never get to see the Enz again, I got to see them in NZ (with dA-buP - my real pleasure), and so I can die happy. Smiler

If they do play in your part of the world, my strong advice would be to get there if you possibly can. Smiler

it has been discussed minorly.... but honestly as of 6.00 last night nothing new or remotely confirmed ..... and with all the Finn - Crowdies related stuff coming up I'd be at a loss as to when it would be fitted in..... Tim Ed recording, Tim touring, Tim releasing album- promotion, Neil and Crowdies UK-Europe shows, recording, and I'd say album release and touring.... just seems fairly impossible......

I don't see why Big Grin Razzer Cool Roll Eyes

Really though, thanks for that post Gryph.

It would be lovely for people on that side of the globe to see the guys together, but they can only do what they can do.

I for one am not complaining.

Just an aside here (I don't want to take this too off-topic), but I was pleased to read Gryph's statement about
quote:
Tim releasing album- promotion

If possible, I'd love to get back to New Zealand for some Tim solo shows. Gee, don't want much, do I? I've got to get there in July yet. Roll Eyes

The amount of Finn/CH/Enz shows which we've had this year have been outstanding already, and I thank the guys so much for the effort.

Speaking for myself, this is all perfect timing - I won't always be free to take off on a whim to see whichever incarnations of the guys happen to be going on, but for now I am and will take full advantage of it (where funds and injuries allow). Smiler

Even if the Enz don't make the US, its tantalising contemplating it. Big Grin

What I've heard is that he was talking about them coming to the US. Given that the Enz always got a warmer reception from the US's neighbors to the North, I certainly hope that making the trek over seas will include Canadian and US dates. I doubt it would be a full tour, but a couple dates in the great white north would be nice Smiler

You and me both!!

It'd be a dream come true to see the Enz live, and I'd do whatever it took to make it happen for me to see them were they to tour here. Cash in frequent flyer miles, etc. I'd even postpone my foot surgery I've got coming up! (Although I doubt anything would come together that soon, although I do have to get the other foot done after this one's healed up, so you never know.)

Well, really, Gryph--the world is their oyster and there must be some wisp of an idea floating around in Split Enz land if Neil felt emboldened enough to mention the slight possibility of it.

I think we all realize that nothing is ever written in stone just because someone makes a passing reference...but we can dream a little. Wink

I'd guess Neil was just still jazzed from playing with the lads down South! Not that he didn't mean it when he said it, but the buzz of playing with a world-class performing unit with all the character and electricity of Split Enz...that's a heady thing, not easily shaken off. It can get bubbles all up in your cognitives, you say things that sound 100% lovely to you at the time without necessarily considering all the forests of complications that would have to be clearcut to build a highway to there from here.

So to speak.

Anyway, that's just my hunch.

Seeing Split Enz has always been a dream of mine. I only discovered them in 1984. Too bad I was only 12 when they came to Kitchener back in 82!

Well I discovered them in about 1980 when I was about 13 or 14 I think (that would make me, um 21 now Big Grin))

I was too young to travel around to each different show in each different state, and it wouldn't have occurred to me to do that anyway. Frowner That's what is so fantastic now - I can do virtually whatever I want. Smiler

If the Enz playing the US does come off, it would have to be towards the end of 2009 at least for me to be able to get there. And who knows what else will be going on by then.

At my age and stage I think that realistically its something I wouldn't be able to get to, but I still hope it happens for anyone over in that part of the world. Smiler

Its a memory that I cherish, and the fact that I travelled to see them (rather than had them closer to home) makes me cherish it even more.

Just wanted to say that I was not the little birdy! Just for those who would want to be reassured! This little birdy knows when to keep her beak firmly shut!!!

Personally, I think it's highly unlikely (sorry US fans!) because of the practical implications... but then the same was probably said about NZ in 2008, so you never know! I flew to Auckland to see them in March, but would love them to come back to England! I have been assured, however, by another little birdy (they get around, don't they?) that this too is not really feasible!

But still we live in hope!
