Ooooooohhhhhh

11 days, 11 days. wait a minute...Dylan sang about 7 days Wink

LOVE it, thanks Gryph

Hoping some of my favourites *might* be on B sides to singles, if not the album

But seriously if Falling Dove is'nt on the album I just might cry

Kind of come to terms with 2 other of my favourites from Leigh not being on the cd because they seemed to have been the 2 songs played least on the 2008 shows

BUT.... new songs

thanks for a much needed smile

Is twitter paying frenz.com for the plug? I can't keep track of one more website, especially one called twitter. Please just post the "tweets" here. As Tim once sang in Dirty Creature, "This is getting ridiculous!"

Hey, beaglehowl, you don't have to join up to twitter or anything.
If you just click here:

you'll see it.

I hate that moment when the guys take off their guitars and Matt throws the sticks into the crowd and there is no more...for tonight anyway.

Obviously. How silly of me not to realize that, because there had to be a kitchen in there somewhere

I must also add that this is a brilliant marketing ploy, which has me, willingly and knowingly, hook, line and sinker. Not that we really need to be "marketed" I guess, because CH already has us hook, line and sinker. Wink Great way to generate discussion and excitement around the album, not to mention great way to change the tone of things given recent events. *ahem*

Anyway, brilliant!!

I've been saying forever that I would love to see a concise Crowded House album again, like TOLM. As great as Time On Earth, Woodface and Together Alone are, they would have been stronger with a few tracks snipped off. Radiohead's last one also reminded me just how great a short and sweet album can be - sometimes less is more.

Looks like I've gotten my wish! 11 tracks, a "band record" according to Neil...can't wait.

So will you be tweeting them in alphabetical order, Gryph? Wink

The title from day #1 is an interesting one. Does it refer to the Merry Men's weapons of choice, a Tory MP-turned-crime writer's barbed jeremiads, or the criticisms fired at a long running British radio drama?

The problem with that is that no one will ever agree to exactly which songs should be snipped let alone sequencing perfections. Also, I see album 'lengths' as reference to the amount of tracks as opposed to the actual running time.

These days you tend to have the same amount of filler regardless of how many tunes you get. Today's pop artists are either lazy or at the whim of record labels that know exactly how to spread the releases so that the consumer does not become blasé.

I'd rather a long album if the alternative means that the average consumer loses key tracks. Sometime this even means that they are never properly recorded in the first place.

Yeah I've got to have some fun, not sure if it's a marketing plan on my part- just a slow striptease maybe?

I'll probably just mention them in the order on MY cd, which might/might not be the order on the official release.

Remember you don't actually have to sign onto Twitter to get these , it takes about 5 seconds to access them via the Announcements Area of the Forum.

Happy for you to have some fun...well deserved for all that you do. I'm sure I can see the grin from here. And it is your 'time off' after all.

Hmmm didn't think it got that hot up the mountain today... Wink But if you feel you must Smiler

If it seems like more fun how about releasing them in random order? - I'm sure a few people here would be up to the challenge of putting them in the order that appears on your cd.

It's just my opinion that those albums could lose a few tracks (though I know there are others who think the same). Of course which tracks to lose could be a 100 page discussion here.

I'm not sure what artists you're referencing, but Neil is neither lazy nor a puppet of the record company...I'm sure the decision to have 11 tracks is purely motivated, and I can only imagine the purpose is to make it a lean machine of an album.

I should clarify that saying an album could lose a few tracks is not meant to say that those tracks are "filler." It's less about quality and more about economy. Like in writing prose - don't use 8 words when 5 will do (I'm sure I'm violating that one left and right Wink). Another angle...Movie directors ditch scenes from their movies all the time, not because the scenes aren't great, but because when all is said and done, they don't synergize with the rest of the film. That's more what I'm talking about. Like, Neil left "I Am In Love" off TA for this reason. It's totally an album-worthy track in terms of quality, but he's right, it just doesn't fit the vibe of the rest of TA. It's hard to imagine inserting it anywhere on the CD, or even reordering the tracks to include it, in a way that makes sense. I won't get into it but there are 1-2 others I would have left off on the same basis.

I'd rather the extra tracks come in the form of B-sides, than bloat on the album - Radiohead basically had a second entire album of B-sides that they made available with the beautifully concise, 10-track album In Rainbows. That's the way to do it!
