For better be home soon at Manchester arena last year the lights were out and mobile phones were held in the air to give a 'starry' feel to proceedings.

Last night at REM concert at Lancashire Cricket club Michael stipe asked for same thing during electrolite to remind him of Los Angeles.

Great minds think alike or who is copying who!? Smiler

I think there was a mobile phone company that did this in a commercial a few years ago. But I thought even then that people were already doing it.

I don't care who started it, but it's a brilliant idea.
The Crowdies guys did it in Melbourne late last year, and it looked phenomonal!
They got the guy at the lighting desk to turn out all the lights (so you couldn't even see the guys on the stage, if it hadn't been for the light in the caravan, you would hardly have known where the stage was!)
Luckily enough I caught it on camera although the quality isn't the greatest :|

I just loved it!

U2 did this too when I saw them - think it was during One.

Its certainly stirring when a whole stadium does it!

Duran Duran has been doing it for years too. I guess it replaces that old 80s thing with the lighters.

There is a free app for the iPhone that displays a flickering lighter. Sure to get a laugh....
