i think there is a void in the market of official live footage of the band as they currently are.farewell to the world is great, but it's 12 years old.it would be good if they brought out something shortly after the new album came out , so that it could document time on earth material , and it's successor.

any one agree ?

Their performance at the Masonic Lodge was filmed for the Artist's Den program, and at least some of it will probably find its way on a DVD at some point. The same can be said about Austin City Limits. Probably not what you meant, but better than nothing.

i'm not sure manchester or any other uk tour gig last year was filmed for anything other than the big screens during the gigs but still you would think they would have that footage if they wanted to put something together - perhaps a selection of different performances of different songs at different gigs, that would certainly be... well, different, and would show that the guys were consistent rather than giving it their all on one big night for the cameras as some bands clearly do

Definitely,

I've been banging on about this in various threads for far too long!

PG's comment in another thread was that unfortunately nothing's on the horizon at present.

Everybody who's seen it knows that the Chicago webcast gig was an amazing show with excellent camera work. I know how hard these things can be but if anything is worthy of a DVD release then that surely is! I don't know who owns that footage but perhaps we could petition them for such a release? Wishful thinking? Probably.

Not sure, but I suspect you're writing about the March 19, 2007 webcast from Real World Studios, which was the post-reunion debut. That was a good one, and I certainly wouldn't object to a DVD release. But Matt had only been in the band a very short time at that point (and Mark had only rejoined less than two months earlier as well), and it shows in the musicianship. They played much better as a band in the Chicago webcast (the concert was August 18, and the webcast went up on MSNBC a couple of weeks later).

And, truth be told, they play much better as a band now than they did last August. I'm willing to be patient, as long as we get something good!

No apologies for bumping this one - hope someone close to the band may take note??!

I think we are fairly agreed that Crowded House are (one of) the best live band(s) out there, in terms of musicianship, crowd involvement, material, set rotation, improv. etc and that's not just us long-term fans saying this - I keep seeing posts on the forum about converted fans etc.

Please can something from either 2007 or 2008 be made available commercially. It's been discussed elsewhere but I am sure that several gigs were filmed.

There is, apart from anything else, the remainder of the Glasto concert - I assume that copyright over this footage reverts to the band, given that the BBC can't show it any longer (remember seeing this message when the gig was available via BBCi player).

Rant over - back to Youtube!

Crowded House Live At The Masonic Lodge has a nice ring to it! Ditto Austin City Limits.

Just put out the MSN concert on DVD - great setlist, sound, audience involvement, banter pretty good. Top concert all round!

Here's the link to it again :-

Hi Stuart,

Think you've misunderstood - I would like an official DVD release of the MSN footage - I have not downloaded the concert to DVD.

MSN have now put DRM software on the website so the footage can no longer be downloaded via Realplayer, although from there you can burn internet video to CDV or if you pay the premium DVD

No probs, Stuart.

Warning to Frenz - Crowded House @ Chicago HOB is the oldest gig on the MSN concert listings. Reckon it'll go from the site pretty soon so have a look while you can!!
