Response to the opening show has been incredible to say the least.

I highly recommend that if you are in Brisbane tonight or know anyone in Brisbane tonight that they should get up and go to the Paddo Tavern on Given Terrace in Paddington to see the Best Neil Finn Tribute you will see.

I was taken aback by Paul's resemblance, in the photo, to Neil (although I don't recall ever seeing Neil sit down during a gig). I've seen a couple of other tribute acts, but none of them have made any attempt to look like Neil or any other of the band members, so I wasn't expecting that. Purely based on the photo though, the bassist and drummer would never be mistaken for Nick or Paul!

Impersonation is a talent in itself, let alone the ability to play and sing, so I mean no disrespect. I am slightly unnerved, simply because I'm a fan of the real person, and while Neil's still alive and kicking, writing and playing (which thankfully he is), it feels odd to me to see someone else mimic him. There's a fine line between giving people a good night's entertainment and, well, creating a mirage. That's why I think this forum may not have been the best place to publicise the show. I hope you can understand that.

However, it's said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and and I guess my comments on the photos should be taken as a compliment

The thing with the Nick Seymour and Paul Hester is that they are in no way supposed to be either of them.

The show is a showcase of Neil Finn songs from Crowded House, Split Enz, Solo and Finn Brothers.

Therefore there was no need to find a Nick and Paul per say.

Have you checked out the youtube footage yet.

ITs only handycam footage at the momment but you get the idea looking at it.
