No schedule/time slot news yet but it should be soon - hopefully within 2-3 weeks.
The ACL website has a message board and there should be news there if anyone will be selling festival passes. If you take a really big gamble and travel to Austin without buying a ticket, you might get lucky and meet someone who wants to get rid of their tickets quickly ;-). |

According to the ACL website, single day tickets will be available starting Tues, June 19th, when the schedule is released.

CH gets an hourlong set -- 4:30pm - 5:30pm, Friday, 14 Sep 2007.
At least, none of the hugely popular bands plays opposite the band at that time. Only real competition around that time is Joss Stone. |

Did you also notice that CH are on before Queens of the Stone Age ?
(Tongue in cheek here...) Hopefully there won't be a repeat of events like there was at Coachella Day 1 schedule : http://www.austincitylimits.com/schedule/day1.htm |

I also noticed that Pete Yorn is scheduled for Friday from 2:30-3:30 (although on a different stage). Kinda fits well with the CH tour, although this was probably coincidental.

It looks the band will be doing a taping for the Austin City Limits TV program. This is what I read in an ACL email I received today :
A parade of talent will be taping new shows around the Fest weekend in September, including The Arcade Fire, Wilco, Bloc Party, Regina Spektor, Crowded House, and Lucinda Williams. The new season begins airing nationwide the first week of October (as always, check your local listings for exact day and time). I'll try to locate some more info later when I'm away from work. There is still time for schedule changes to be made but it looks CH is still on for Fri Sept 14th. I would check the ACL message board along with Craigslist. Unfortunately, I do not have any extra tickets.
Here is some info on ACL TV tapings : http://www.pbs.org/klru/austin/backstage/faqs.html#howgettickets How can I get tickets to a taping? Please call the KLRU Hotline at (512) 475-9077. The recorded message will detail the artist, taping date, time and which radio station(s) to listen to for the ticket distribution announcement. One or two working days before the taping the station will make the announcement stating the location of the ticket giveaway. When you hear the announcement, go immediately to the location of the distribution to pick up a pair. Tickets go *very quickly*, sometimes within five minutes of the announced giveaway time. The free tickets are distributed by KLRU staff on a first-come, first-served basis. Two tickets per person are allowed. A ticket does NOT guarantee admission to a taping. KLRU will admit as many ticket holders as our capacity limit allows. That limit is set by the State Fire Marshal and is strictly enforced. In order to be assured of a full house for the taping, KLRU distributes tickets in excess of our capacity to account for "no-shows." If you are in Austin for a visit you are welcome to follow the ticket process detailed here. Unfortunately, KLRU cannot accommodate special out-of town ticket requests. However, another way to get the Austin City Limits experience is to attend the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the dates of which are posted a year in advance. Where and when is Austin City Limits taped? KLRU typically begins taping new shows in the spring/summer before the season premieres. However, the producers will take advantage of an artist’s touring schedule if it brings a desired act into KLRU’s vicinity. According to the mythology, Austin City Limits is taped on an Austin hillside above the city. In reality, the show is recorded in a KLRU television studio located on the University of Texas campus. The studio is located on the 6th floor of the U.T. Communications Building B. The famous skyline set, based on a photograph of the city taken from south Austin, debuted in 1982 for Season 7 and has remained the series' backdrop ever since. The program has occasionally featured shows recorded elsewhere, including at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. |

Noticed that the AT&T Blue Room will also be webcasting at ACL Fest:
http://www.attblueroom.com/music/events/acl.php Not clear which artists might yet be featured, but I wonder if Crowded House might be less likely due to their appearance on the Coachella airing. Hopefully, more details will be available leading up to the festival. |

And I read this very message yesterday (different thread/discussion from Poptartjen's) but now it has a time stamp of just 9 minutes ago. My forum's gone bung. |

You've not completely lost it, Bob! I posted that same info here this morning. Are you planning on being at ACL Fest, as well as at the program taping? You've had quite the travels this tour, and I know I've overlapped with you at being at some of the shows, but somehow haven't yet crossed your path there in person. |

Yes, we will be at both. You're right: the two shows in Austin will make numbers 7 and 8. We started with Tempe, so we'll catch the beginning and ending US shows. It has been a whole lot of fun and a nice diversion from the stresses of work. See you in Austin? Bob |

You bet! I'd actually posted something similar in the inadvertently deleted thread, but will try to recreate it here. A good friend of mine from my hometown of Indianapolis will be flying into DFW after work this Thursday, and we'll be driving down to Austin sometime Friday. If people wanted to meet up (whether somewhere beforehand and/or somewhere on the grounds closer to showtime), I'd be willing to try to do it, if possible. It might be a good idea to have a pocket of CH Frenz fans there in the crowd amongst the other pockets of CH fans. The band goes on from 4:30 - 5:30pm, with the first act of the day performing a little after 11:00am. I'm hoping to know more about our Friday plans and schedule before too long. |

Jennifer, are you also up for trying to meet up sometime Friday? The Finn Brothers show there in Austin a few years ago may've perhaps been my all-time favorite, and another friend and I enjoyed hooking up with you at the front of stage for that show.
Are others intending to see the band? I remember we had a decent number of Frenz come out to the pre-show get-together back at that time. |

I'd like to get a spot near the front, if possible. I have no idea of how many eager QOTSA there will be lining up early.
It's worth getting to the park shortly after they open so you have time to get something to eat and drink or check out the Waterloo Records tent, etc. Check out the map on the ACL website ; that might help to figure out where to meet. I'm definitely not carrying a huge flag around with me all day! I'll have my phone with me ; I'll send you that info later. |

ACL interview in the Austin Chronicle :
http://www.austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/Issue/story?oid=oid%3A535727 ACL Fest Friday Interviews BY JIM CALIGIURI Crowded House 4:30pm, AMD stage After more than a decade's absence, no one expected another album from Crowded House. Then the band's original drummer, Paul Hester, committed suicide in 2005, spurring songwriter/guitarist Neil Finn and bassist Nick Seymour to reunite in the aftermath. "There wasn't any hesitation on either part," Finn recalls. "Any of the little negatives that might have existed were completely wiped away in the sheer desire to do it again." The result is Time on Earth (ATO), the New Zealanders' first album together since 1993's Together Alone. The Ethan Johns-produced LP is a bit more pensive than Crowded House's previous work, due largely to the magnitude of Hester's absence. It also features some of Finn's trademark pop, which will delight longtime admirers. "The lyrics reflect what you think about when you're in the middle of your life instead of a young man," explains Finn. "But in some ways, the [songwriting] process doesn't change. It's still as mysterious as ever. You're still relying on things falling out of the sky or out of your head that make you feel good – those little moments that feel good when you sing them over and over again." One such moment occurs for the listener during "Silent House," a song that was co-written with the Dixie Chicks and also appears on the Texas trio's Taking the Long Way. "I got a call just to see if I wanted to write a song with them," he relates. "It was an intriguing thought. I wasn't familiar with a lot of their work. I knew about their staunch stand against George Bush, which endeared them to me. So after breakfast with Natalie [Maines], we sat down for two or three days in L.A. ... I had a little guitar figure that got the ball rolling and then Natalie told me about her grandmother that had Alzheimer's and how they packed up the house when she went into a home. There were a lot of poignant images in that." As for Crowded House's plans for the future, Finn says a box set is in the works as well another album. "We're very eager to record again," Finn furthers. "We feel in many ways that we've become a band because of the touring of the last three months. I've got some new songs, and there'll be more by the end of the year. I'm not putting too much pressure on the situation, but we want to keep up the momentum we've got going. It definitely feels like a band with a future." |

If anyone is still considering attending the CH set at ACL on Friday, they still have single-day tickets available for that day only.
http://www.aclfestival.com/tickets.aspx Not cheap for a 45-minute set, but there are some other good folks playing that day as well: Jesse Malin, James Hunter, Spoon, Kaiser Chief, and Peter, Bjorn & John for instance. I wonder if the band and/or crew will hang around for any of the other acts or, seeing as it's the last official stop on the tour, if they will flee for their respective homes. |
