Just thinking - never know but this might have an influence if the album doesn't get re-released-the odd songs may make it to the box set?? Here's to dreaming!

If the "Locked Out" version at Fleadh 1994 is anything to go by, bring it on!

I don't think it requires much dreaming. I'm just assuming. That's why I'm not signing the petition--Crowded House is already releasing a big box set of obscurities, and I'd be flat-out shocked if any substantially different takes of these songs weren't already on it.

I don't think any of the songs on Together Alone could be improved. They are all 100% perfect. I'm not really sure what you guys are expecting to hear in the new mixes. I think the remixes would work best if the new mixes are dramatically different. Like the Afterglow version of "Private Universe" for example. That's a remix worth having! If they could strip down all the songs to their acoustic elements it would be amazing. If all we get is a longer jam at the end of "Nails In My Feet" and other similar extensions then I'm not really sure that's worthy of a release. If a song fades out 10 second later than the original is it really all that exciting and new? I think not. What I want are dramatically different remixes that could by no means be mistaken for the original versions of the songs.

Maybe there will be some alternate versions. I'm thinking Beatles Anthology style! PS I agree about Together Alone too, but I know that listening to an alternative version of 'I'm Looking Through You' and 'Got To Get You Into My Life' on Anthology 2 was pretty damn good and didn't take away from the originals.

I think the Beatles may be the only band with a large enough obsessive fanbase to support something like their Anthology set. That's why you don't see many other artists attempting a similar release. It would be interesting to hear an alternate take of TA songs but I'm not sure they would be sufficiently different enough to warrant an entire alternate take album release. I mean, unless they tried the songs in really different styles like a mellow version of "Black & White Boy" or "Locked Out".

I guess we'll see what's out there once the box set comes out but I'd be surprised if there were a whole album's worth of TA material.

If alternate versions or demos of songs from TA come even remotely close to the beauty of this version of "Locked Out", I am all for it.

Unfortunately, I see this as a club release only or a small batch anniversary release of TA with a second disc of alternate versions. If I remember correctly from SOS, Nick loved the original mixes so we may have at least one member of the group interested in this idea.

It's about time at least one of the CH albums was released as a Deluxe Edition (like Pulp's Different Class, The Who's Tommy and Who's Next etc..) and Together Alone IMO is the perfect choice. That way alternative mixes demos etc could be on the bonus disc. Then again, maybe they're in the boxset when it eventually comes out.

It would be surprising if this was NOT included in the box. Wink

Oops. It shoulda' been SSS as in Chris Bourke's Something So Strong book. Apparently, my daughter's current fixation on songs from Mamma Mia have finally infiltrated all aspects of my writing. Knowing me, I should stay away from acronyms. Knowing you, ... Smiler
