Nice Crowded House artwork on the festival web-site. I wonder if it is from the new album as I have not seen that one before.

Thanks for the info, PG! Hopefully the first of many UK dates??!

Initially excited by this....till I saw the ticket prices, if you add in the ferry cost to IOW, think I'll pass & go to a few mainland shows (which I assume will be happening around the same time), for the same money.

CH currently 4th on the bill for the Saturday...

Looks interesting and made me think of the line in "In My Command" - The clock is dripping on the wall

IMHO, the rest of the line-up leaves a lot to be desired anyway.. But it's a start for us in the UK, and hopefully the first of many - festivals or (preferably) otherwise

I notice it is £150 quid for a ticket + ferry across (Unless you live on IOW). I think I will hold and wait having attended 5 of the dates on the TOE tour for the around the same price.

I also believe this festival is covered on ITV2

Yep, that's my plan as well!

Reckon the ITV2 coverage will be limited to 'Weather With You'......

Be good if they get an evening slot at one of the other UK festivals covered by BBC (Glasto, T in the Park & Reading)

Some of the news announcements make amusing reading :-

http://www.inthenews.co.uk/new...-lineup-$1353200.htm

Still, good to see news items that don't relate to the band's equine namesake!

We are going to Camp Bestival with the kids and think that The Crowdies would be a great addition to the line up there.

I'd rather see them play their own show in Brighton mind.

From Portsmouth News:

"Let's hope they bring the weather with them."

Sigh. That must have taken about 30 long, valuable seconds to come up with.

It looks like it must be from Time On Earth, though I'm pretty sure I haven't seen that specific artwork before. I can't see them using the font, clocks etc from the previous album again.

It make me think of "clocks are dripping on the wall" as well Smiler

Woo Hooo... made my day. Already have my fest ticket and it makes a nice change for me not to have to pay out a fortune to travel and see CH... Yes I live on the IW.
I'm hoping that as well as their main stage slot they might hang around for the weekend a play a few acoustic sets on the bandstand

Crowded House to play Isle Of Wight Festival

Australian rockers Crowded House head up a trio of acts confirmed for this year's Isle Of Wight Festival.

The group, who rose to fame with tracks like ‘Weather With You’, ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ and ‘Something So Strong’, will be joined by Kanye West collaborator Mr Hudson and American disco indie band Hockey.

Jay-Z and The Strokes will headline the event with Blondie, Pink, Spandau Ballet and more set to perform.

Click here to see the latest Isle of Wight Festival line-up.

Many more acts, including the Sunday night headliner, are still to be announced, so stay tuned to Virtual Festivals over the coming weeks.

Tickets for Isle of Wight 2010 are priced at £150 for a weekend adult camping pass, while a child (7-12) camping ticket costs £75.

Click here for Isle of Wight Festival tickets.

Isle Of Wight Festival 2010 will take place at Seaclose Park, Newport, from 11-13 June 2010.

Ferries tickets from Red Funnel are on sale now with festival tickets. Book now to avoid the rush and the disappointment of not being able to get onto the Island

My Daughter was already going to IOW and she texted me to say that Crowded House were on. She was really pleased! I have brought her up well i.e. brainwashed her with all the Enz/CH/Finn music over the years Smiler. She has been to many concerts as well - saw Finns in Auckland when Eddie Rayner stepped on stage. In fact when she went to NZ to study in Auckland a few years ago her new friends couldn't understand how she knew so much about them Big Grin.

Since that time we have had those friends come over year by year, it's been good to meet them and introduce them to england and listen to the kiwi accent. My daughter is good at organising itineries - another of her friends from NZ arrives at the end of the month and she is hoping she will come to IOW with her other friends.

I live in Portsmouth so I'm hoping that they will need to rehearse prior to IOW so Portsmouth Guildhall or the very small Wedgwood Rooms would seem ideal Wink

Well Neil's played at the Guidhall a number of times - I think the UK south coast is a bit of a Finn heartland so the IOW is an inspired choice.

Interesting the CH seem to be targeting festivals rather than solo headlining tours?

Sorry but I think the acts for that Sat are pretty dull, apart from CH of course. The Strokes have only made one decent album ( and that sounded like it was made in the 70's. Vampire Weekend do sound really exciting and modern but Blondie!? How come Blondie are above CH?? They were brilliant when I was about 10 but they are way past their best.
