There might be one or two second/third shows added to the UK Tour.

I CAN confirm that May 25th will be a second show at Birmingham (Symphony Hall).

These go on sale Monday February 1st.

If any others come up I'll post here or Frenz Com Twitter.

All of this, plus they're not coming to the jewel of England, i.e. Bournemouth...

They are probably redoing the website, seems like all the info is coming thru here nicely.

Actually, I'm going to say my piece...

How much does it cost for a concert ticket these days? £40 on average? What's the capacity of the BIC in Bournemouth and the Brighton Centre? Got to be 3000 minimum at each, and they both sold out last time. I was at both gigs and they were absolutely awesome. At Bmth it went so well Neil spontaneously composed a song on stage called 'The Bournemouth Stomp,' and at Brighton he finished by saying, 'Absolutely awesome Brighton' and I drove home on air. So, back to the maths...that's a guaranteed 3000 seats x £40 each x 2 nights, i.e. £240,000 gross for two night's work they apparently don't want in a climate when CDs no longer make money due to internet file sharing, so revenue is all down to live shows.

If anyone connected with the band reads this: I JUST DON'T GET IT! WHY AREN'T THEY PLAYING ANY SHOWS FOR FANS IN THE SOUTH EAST OF ENGLAND?!

Minty,

Add your voice to my new thread. I really don't understand why the promotors have missed both the South Coast and the East Midlands. A total cock up I say. I think fans would much rather have a South Coast gig rather than yet another London gig! As I've mentioned time and time again getting to London and back in a night from the South coast is a nightmare. The only people who seem to forget this is the promotors. Ditto East Midlands.

I was at the Brighton Centre gig and yes it was great. I've also seen Neil at the Cambridge Corn Exchange and the Finn Bros at Pompey Guildhall (and CH on the TA tour) - so Finns know both the South Coast and East Midlands convert venues. Maybe it was Neil's wish to keep the touring down a bit this time round has lead to the South Coast and East Midlands getting the chop?

Out of interest, Peter, how did the Scottish shows do in terms of pre-sale ticket sales?

I don't see why people are complaining that the band are not coming to their town, we are willing to traveling from Norway to see the band playing in London, and also considering traveling to other cities.

We traveled from Norway on the last tour to see the bands gig in Belfast.

I think you should be happy that this band is back together performing and making albums, especially in a day and age when music is so poor, keep in mind that they are old men and can't tour the world and eleswhere Wink

Crowded House are the jewel of music and well worth traveling to see, if the gig doesn't come to you then you must come to the gig.

I hope they do stage a gig in your town.

In reply to that last post - you have to remember that some people are unable to make that kind of commitment - money, family, commitments, etc...

However, I agree that this concerted rage about CH giving the SE/south coast 'the chop', and it being some kind of scandal or farce or whatever.

In 2007, the band played 2 gigs north of Nottingham, whilst cramming 2 gigs on the south coast plus 2 London gigs into the schedule. I'm sure the people of Yorkshire, the North East, and most of Scotland felt pretty aggrieved by that, but I do not remember the kind of reaction we've seen this time around.

In 2008, they played some fairly obscure forests - again, almost exclusively in the South - and one arena (Liverpool)... ditto - large areas 'missed out', patient and understanding fans.

What we've also got to remember is this a darn small country!! When the guys do the US, it's 1 gig per state across most of the land - some people make the sacrifice, others can't, and it must be tough for both, but neither group seems to 'rebel' against the entire exercise.

I find it inconceivable that "the promoters" who are so often blamed on here, planned the tour without any input from the band, and I have a pretty strong feeling that they wouldn't deliberately avoid any particular areas. There will be reasons for the dates and venues that are and aren't on the list - and who knows, that list may yet grow.

Keep the faith, people!

Hi HalfAWorldAway,

My point was more that it just doesn't make financial sense to miss out on something like £240,000 gross revenue (just from ticket sales, let alone merchandise) whilst making loyal fans in the south east drive 2-3 hrs each way to see them play in London/Oxford/Bristol. I understand it might not be possible for the band to go to everyone's home town, but to omit an entire geographical region stuffed full of fans is baffling. Would they do it in Australia? An Aussie tour missing out Victoria, anyone? Unthinkable. Like I said, I just don't get the logic.

I wish i only had to drive 2-3 hours to see them play, i took a train from here to Bergen to see R.E.M. , that took 6 hours, i also went from Berlin til Munich to see them, again six hours.

Just wait and see, i get the feeling that the whole tour isnt' set in stone yet.

I DO undrstand to a point what you are saying but speaking of Australia.....when the guys played Tasmania in 2008 I think it had been a LONG time between drinks since a Crowdies concert there, I'm not sure they have played The Northern Territory at all? and YES the have played in Perth but Western Austrlia is HUGE.and not everywhere in Victoria is 'near' Melbourne.
For me, it is at least l hour trip each way to see them in NSW(yes, nothing I know)

It just seems to me that with each of the tours o/s that there has been since we were blessed enough to have The Crowdies back, there has been an effort made to play a place that missed them the time before, BUT I am equally sure it is not humanly possible to play everywhere even if the played 98 out of 100 cites, the other 2 cities would turn around and say 'what about us'

Remember we *may* not even have all the dates yet for The UK and Europe.....it could still happen Smiler

Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Just been onto Symphony Hall site at 9.58am and got front row (AA) for Tues 25th!! Yipee!!!!! I tried Live Nation a few mins before and they only had Grand Tier. Symphony Hall site is great - so easy to use and way better than Ticket(un)master - you can pick your seats on the Symphony Hall site! Smiler

Better do some work now! Thanks so much for the extra date in Brum!!

Just edited to add that some row AAs still available on the Symphony Hall site and BBs-C and lots of Centre Stalls so anyone who missed the 1st show (or like me NEEDs to go twice) get booking now!!

I also got row AA at 10am this morning through the Symphony Hall website although I was trying to book on the phone with them at the same time to be told the system wasn't allowing them to book any tickets!! Thought it was funny at 10am that a large portion of the centre and right stalls were already spoken for if they couldn't make bookings direct!! Means I have to see them 2 nights running. Oh well I guess I can put up with the hardship Smiler
