Dear God please make this the next Crowded House album cover! It reminds me of those totally bizarre 70's album covers, like the Black Sabbath one where two robots are spitting into each others mouths going opposite directions on an escalator

 Yeah a very cool album It almost makes one wonder whether that fabric background was taken from a close up shot of a section of Matt's waistcoat (presuming it is a waistcoat) - Hell just presuming full stop!  |

Interesting, in the thought that no band member has appeared on an album cover since Temple; maybe a symbol alluding to the first wholly conceived CH album in entirety since Together Alone? And also the bottom seems to be missing, concealing the final title of the new album perhaps?

I doubt that this is the cover. Live Nation in the US showed PR photos for the last tour and not the TOE cover. When and where did we read last that Nick was working on the cover?
Tiny Nick? Draped by Neil's arm? Makes me what to say in my best Scarface accent: "Say hello to my little friend!" And tears will fall and oceans will rise I feel the fear and I know I'm alive |

Someone on the board said they spoke with Nick at his hotel in Buenos Aires recently (in the last month or so?) - Nick was apparently doing some work on the album cover at that time.
It wouldn't be a terrible album cover, just not especially great. Time On Earth had a really good cover IMO, and this would be a weak follow-up. It's a little lacking in symbolism for Nick, I would say. |

Too "Coraline" for me. That creeps me out, big time. ~I believe in doing things backwards~ ~Under moonlight I stood wild and naked Felt no shame just my spirit awakened~ I hate that moment when the guys take off their guitars and Matt throws the sticks into the crowd and there is no more...for tonight anyway. |

I actually like the way the faces are photographs but the hair and suits appear painted on... which could be read as something of a nod to the first album cover???
Anyway whether it's promo art or the album cover - yes it's weird but it's growing on me. --------------------------- Look at all the people like cows in a herd Well, i like Birds |

Looks like inside sleeve art to me, rather than cover art. Though I hope they keep the hessian and wording, quite like that.
Question: in the age of downloads do covers really matter anyway? |

Agreed...and yes FG it would also be good inside a shiny gatefold cover. As mentioned in another thread, I like the image - it's a bit offbeat, and I think it is very CH.
