Something So Strong

Hello everyone,

I've a few questions about Crowded House posters that are/were available at various times in history...

I recently acquired a huge "Crowded House Hero Poster" from around 1988, It had a medium close-up of Neil, Nick and Paul huddled together in the centre and the 'flaming houses' from the TOLM era in the background... My mother just recently burnt it before I could put it up, so yes... I'm upset about that. Frowner

Also... The Afterglow poster which came with the CD, does anybody have a photograph of this? Is it worth hunting down?

(I'm asking this because I've just finished building our music room, and I'd like to cover a whole wall with Finn-related posters, pictures etc...)

Here be a photo of it so far... I've still got a few Enz posters to put up, and some vinyl covers... but yeah, you get the idea Smiler

Thankyou everyone for your time Smiler

Those posters are fantastic - I don't think I've seen them before. It's a brill idea for a music room. (One day when I have a bigger house... At the mo my piano is squished into my tiny lounge)

I've only got the pictures which came in the sheet music books I'm afraid. Never come across any posters.

I love your avatar too! (obviously - given my name!) Smiler

Aplogies for the quality, was taken with my cellphone.

I would kill for any of those posters... I haven't been able to track down a single Crowdies poster. Has the fan club ever sold any?

Keep an eye on ebay.
There seems to have been a few on recently so worth looking from time to time.
I got a huge poster of the woodface cover and I've framed it. I have it hung above my bed and it looks really good. It makes such a statement.
Good luck!

I got mine off of ebay. They're not huge, but I like 'em. One of them has been ever so gently removed from a Billboard magazine. I can't wait to have them framed and hang them in them in my home office. Big Grin

I don't have the posters with me to share pics, but I have 2 or 3 (about 20" x 30" ea). One is the picture of all 3 of them around an old radio (the image promoting the first album), the next is the picture of them in the blue living room - whimsical Nick-like graphics. Both of these were sent to me when I was in the fanclub back in 1987 - I think Peter sent them to me - I bought them for like $15 for both. The last might be for Woodface like the one above. I may have more, but I'll need to look at my parents house in Michigan. I love them!

I have the Crowded House "Woodface" poster, the Enz "Conflicting Emotions" poster, and the poster insert from the "Enz of an Era" album. That is basically the extent of my collection. Pitiful, huh? But living in the US, pickings are slim!!!!!!

The TOLM one is a beauty, isn't it straussy. One of my fav pics.

I've also got a large, signed Finn Brothers one already framed and on the wall and a poster version of my avatar that is waiting to be framed. I just need the cash to do it. *Sigh* I'll win lotto one day Roll Eyes

The funny thing is that I bet Neil still wears that Black Suit from the TOLM poster. His recent black suits look like they may be from another time Smiler

Here are a few pics of my room circa 1991 and some previous. Every single surface of my room was covered in Crowded House posters. I still have all of them in a folder and in tubes.

ARGH! That's the one Mum burnt!

I thought that was a big poster, how on earth did you get that massive billboard sized one Houser!? Thanks so much for sharing the photos! Were these all in magazines and the like, I recognised a few...

I feel very small and insignificant having seen Housers' room Wink

* sigh * if only I was around then, and this stuff was easier to come by...

Oh please don't feel insignificant, I was COMPLETELY OBSESSED when I was a young'n. hehe. I spent every cent I had on magazines, records, tapes, posters, t-shirts, concert tickets, you name it, I spent money on it!!! I have photos of all my concert t-shirts somewhere, but I can't seem to find them.

The massive big poster I scored from HMV in Parramatta. They had it in their front window display and I asked if i could have it and they kept it for me. Most of the others came from magazines, and yes, that's the Hero poster, it's one of my favs too. I think my absolute fav though is a black and white poster that was the cover of 'Musician' magazine in about 1987/88. I never put that on my wall and I am still waiting until I can get it framed. I do have one CH related thing framed though, my prized possesion of one of Nicks Paintings, purchased at a gallery in Redfern many many years ago. *sigh*

Brings back some fabulous memories.
