Gentlemen,

RE: American concert dates for the Crowded House Summer 2010 Tour

I have viewed your website:

http://www.amentinc.com/artist/Crowded-House.html

It seems that the task at hand for your company, especially in these tough economic times, is to maximize the profits for your organization. Crowded House American booking dates are surely being discussed and with a thought to the profits from said tour I wish to make a suggestion to your company.

Would it not be sound business acumen to expose the Crowded House Tour to the maximum potential ticket buyers in America? To that end, New York and certainly California dates are being planned. Texas was on the last tour and will be represented again I am sure.

Why not add concert dates in the 4th most populous state of the union: Florida

Please consider the following:

1. Florida has a warm tropical clime with paradise beach settings.

2. Florida is home to 18,000,000 people. Consider the CH UK Tour: There are 13 dates between Scotland and Ireland alone. Florida has a third more population than those two countries combined and there isn't a cold sea anywhere around to cross.

3. Florida has a warm tropical clime with paradise beach settings.

4. Excellent concert venues await. May I recommend Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater - the Black Eyed Peas are playing there in November. Or perhaps the BB Mann Hall in Fort Myers, a favorite of James Taylor. Or the Bayfront Park Amphithreatre in Miami, a venue that the Moody Blues like.

5. Florida has a warm tropical clime with paradise beach settings.

6. Please check your concert date history and consider how long it has been since Crowded House has played any concert in Florida. Should there not be a pent up surge of fan appeal among 18,000,000 people that would allow you to fill at least one concert bill?

7. Florida has a warm tropical clime with paradise beach settings.

Gentlemen, in closing, please consider that Florida concert dates early in the US Tour could also provide the boys with a much needed R&R break between the European Tour and the rest of the American dates. Why not allow the boys a mental health day or two while exposing the CH product to a large segment of an almost untapped fan base???????

Thank you for considering my thoughts and I eagerly await the announcement of at least one Florida date on the upcoming America Tour.

Yours sincerly,

Songwriter

Love it! I second your motion, even as I make hypothetical travel plans for a hypothetical CH show in a more obvious location. Smiler

I'm convinced! Surely with a logical and well structured argument such as this they have to see sense?

It seems European are not alone to not understand and ask more dates on this tour.
Hope some will come.

It's a good letter, but you perhaps should have mentioned the warm tropical clime and paradise beach settings.

When will the american dates be announced? My boyfriend (Halfaworldaway) and I are planning to go to USA this summer, but we put our plans on hold when we heard about the american tour. It would be great to catch a show or two there.

Well that's perhaps a strategy us greedy & overindulged fans in East of England could adopt to entice the band to a show in our region.....there's the Embassy Theatre @ Skeggy,
the Gorleston Pavillion @ Yarmouth, the quaint end of pier theatre at Cromer, or the Cliffs @ Southend .................... Wink

I'm living in Florida and probably will still be here when CH are touring, so a date in our state would be more than welcome. If I had my druthers, though, they would play at a smaller club venue like the Ritz in Ybor City. Honestly, though, I'll settle for any Florida dates.

Here's hoping some US dates are announced soon and that they include FLORIDA!

@Songwriter - Love it! I'm for it to. May I suggest Central Florida. Orlando to be exact!

Recently made a similar plea ( http://frenzforum.com/eve/foru...=508100047#508100047 ) for Florida and hope that you all get your wish.

Texas didn't get a date on the 2008 leg of the previous CH tour and may not again if the number of stops this time around is limited. It did get a date on the 2007 leg, but it was an abbreviated set as part of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Not sure if the band would've made it down, otherwise. It turned out to be the last US stop of that leg.

Florida is likely in the same situation if the tour doesn't stop in a number of cities this time. If the state ends up with one city on the tour, it seems most likely that it would be in the northern half due to distance. In that case, Orlando (HOB?) or Tampa might be decent bets.

It figures that the Northeast, Chicago, and Central and Southern California are typically pretty safe as far as the US is concerned. The Northwest might come next in terms of odds. The South and Southeast are more of a crapshoot since they're a little more out of the way from these other areas.

Always easy and a bit of fun to speculate, but in the end, it's all just a guess! Hoping for the best.

Meatscience - I'm with you on that one! I too have travel plans hanging, balancing.

Songwriter: excellent letter. Passionate and well-argued, without coming off bitter or accusatory.

I will add my vote here for Florida. Although I'm on the other side of the country and could not possibly attend said concert, in fairness to CH fans wherever they may be languishing, Florida deserves to be graced by their presence. Perhaps Gryphon will pass this eloquantly written document onto the band for consideration! Hey it worked for Half Full!

I believe that we've heard late summer, although there are multiple opinions on exactly what's considered to be "late summer"!
