I agree - better than the original - certainly in terms of capturing the "spookiness" vibe. Love the accoustic jangly guitar chords and the synth solo is a menacing joy. Made me appreciate the original better - I was always thought it was a pale attempt at a Poor Boy re-write. I can see that's not the case now, Waiata production withstanding.

i never thought Neil's ascending guitar line over the chorus was among his best but i could never have done anything better. don't know why i mention that...
