I had to laugh when I read this Above the Kitchen! So true! Growing up on Long Island in the 70's and 80's Billy Joel was a constant on the radio and just a part of the general psyche of "the Island". To this day his music instantly brings me back to where I grew up.

Oh, so here are my 10 favorite songs (at this moment!). As others have said, songs that I never get bored with and that make me stop what I am doing.

Stupidly Happy -XTC
She Will Have Her Way -Mr. Finn
Between Something and Nothing -The Ocean Blue
Happy Hour -The Housemartins
Even Flow -Pearl Jam
Twentysomething -Jamie Cullum
On My Own -from Les Miserables (I love a good Broadway tune)
The Reflex -Duran Duran
Rock Lobster -the B-52s
All The Way -Billie Holiday

TEN is just too few! Showing my age as well. I don't think I love these songs only for musical reasons either, or poetic reasons etc. but also for the times with which I associate them.

I Love a Long Goodbye -- Sloan
Life on Mars -- David Bowie
One Summer Dream -- ELO
Walking on the Spot -- Crowded House
Maybe -- Split Enz
Waterfront -- Simple Minds
The Backdoor to Heaven -- Aztec Camera
I'm Not In Love -- 10CC
Green -- Alex Lloyd
