Describe your musical tastes based on the 10 artists you select. Based on your likes, it may put someone onto a new band/songwriter to discover. Hey, it's easier than putting your entire collection online. My list is based, more or less, on volume of records/cd's/tapes, but you may choose to be more concise based on individual songs or styles.
Here goes (in ranked order): 1. Depeche Mode 2. CH/FB/SE/NF/TF (why I'm in this forum) 3. Ultravox 4. Icehouse 5. The Sound 6. Tears For Fears 7. Aha 8. Nik Kershaw 9. U2 10.Kate Bush Comment: I have very narrow musical tastes (duh). Admittedly, I have very little music by American artists as I have yet to find some that have the lyrical style I like without sounding too ...um....American(?)... (sorry). Billy Joel had some good songs that slapped people in the head but not enough to make me a real fan (I also thought the instrumentation lacked somewhat). I have tons of 12" mixes by the above (I have mainly vinyl as they were unavailable on CD at the time) but nothing to far fetched from the original catches my ear. I still have a few gaps which I am trying to fill (ie. Extended "Cross The Border" by Icehouse). I like somewhat complex sounds, a good beat quite often, complex lyrics often with a message, innovation. Stuff that says to me "I put a lot of effort into this song". |

The Police Some artists I've heard a lot more from than others (and there's still some other artists I'm getting into that aren't on here), but I like everything I've heard by all these artists thus far, so... Hey, I watch "American Idol" (my sister started watching the show in season 2, and the auditions hooked me), so don't feel too bad. Also, happy to see other U2 fans out there. Angela |

If it's Will Young I can forgive you (my sister has his album and I had to order it in for her)... or Shannon Noll (I'll even put my hand up to possibly owning that one) I don't have 10 after the Finns so I'll put some of the few I have ... Elton John Queen Beatles (really like the Blue GH set which I borrowed earlier this year - most of the best songs got missed off the '1' album) ... and a LOT of pop rubbish that I won't admit either! (Apart from those above that I let slip |

Beatles Beach Boys Hootie and the Blowfish Paul McCartney/Wings Tears For Fears Beethoven, Tchaikovksy, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff piano compositions Dixie Chicks Don Henley/Eagles Elton John I'm quite varied with my musical taste (except heavy metal and rap), but I'm a sucker for great harmonies and more "pop" sounding music, overall. Glad to see another classical musical lover, aikakone. |
