As Stevie Wonder is touring Australia, I thought it'd be a good idea for a seperate thread where all things Stevie Wonderful can be discussed such as the tour and anything else to do with his music.

Firstly, I AM GOING TO SEE HIM IN ADELAIDE! Man, never been this excited about a gig. Counting the days down already.

I'll get the ball rolling by a personal list:

Fave Album: Innervisions

Fave Song: Well that's a bit hard but I'll say Living For The City

Most under-rated album: Hotter Than July

Unforgiveable sin: "I Just Called To Say I Love You" (and it's his biggest hit! Where's the justice?)

Was the 80s that bad a decade for Stevie?: Not really, it's just that the good songs became harder to find. Also his sound changed and became completely electronic. I personally think that's what makes his later output that disappointing, the sounds are too dated. Whereas his 70s work remains fresh. Go figure that out.

How about his 90s/2000s output?: Well that hasn't been much of it! Conversation Piece showed promise but once again too much bland AC songs. A Time To Love is almost a return to form but a bit over-long at 75 minutes and once again a couple of bland ballads lets the side down

...Hey, you forgot the 60s: His 60s work is patchy but his singles were glorious, even back to "Fingertips Part 2" in 1963. Stevie was very much part of the Motown machinery but you can hear struggling for his own voice towards the latter half of that decade.

Well I've got some points of discussion to post about...

I actually have an unreasonable dislike for I Just Called to Say I Love You. One of the few songs I truly despise. He basically flipped through the calendar, made a list of all the holidays, chronologically, and made them rhyme.....as cheesily as possible. The song makes me want to take a hammer to my car radio. Yes, I hate it that much. Completely unforgiveable sin. Shame on you, Stevie. What were you thinking???
