Hi, I'm helping out an American electro pop band and wondered if anyone could possibly tell me the names of the main music mags in Australia and
also if you have any blog sites that you could recommend the band to start blogging in..
Any assistance would be totally awesome and much appreciated..

Great to see you here marylou, welcome Smiler

Good question.....I can let you know the ones I know of which are the street press ones that are mainly state by state rather than Oz wide (but I'm sure there must be those too)

South Australia have Rip It Up

http://www.ripitup.com.au/

Canberra BMA

http://www.bmamag.com/

Melbourne's Beat magazine

http://www.beat.com.au/

N.S.W.(Sydney/Canberra/Wollongong and maybe Newcastle)

Drum Media

http://www.drummedia.com.au/

Hope that might be a little help

Well hello marylou, & welcome (or g'day if you prefer)

I'd also recommend sending some stuff into radio station TripleJ, they have a publication called the JMag, which comes out monthly.

There is also Australian Guitar Magazine, another monthly mag that was at one point edited by someone from this very forum. Eeker

There was a free weekly street mag called 3D World that mainly catered to the dance/club/dj/electro funk? demographic.

As for Oz music blogs, well it seems most musos don't take their laptops to the Annandale or the Esplanade for a post gig blog, but you can try boudist, & then get your blog listed on the http://theaustralianindex.com/music/.

You could also check out Apra, the music publishing & copywrite body in Australia. Occasionally they have workshops on how to market music in Oz.

Apart from that there's the myspace page ( Tom can help you with that one), & start a facebook fan page with mp3 thingys & an outrageous claim "Greatest Electro Funk Band In The World", a youtube page, so you can upload all your video clips & stuff.

For a bit of industry gos, you can try db magazine. But you have to ask yourself, is your band as good as this?

Good luck, & may the "Electro-Funk Be With You!"

"An Album Cover Suggestion"
