PU is a great opener, I heard/saw them several times open with it.
It starts quiet, and slowly grows to a massive drum"solo" from Matt and with opportunity for Mark and Neil to play a solo on guitar, and at the end it just rocks, and the mood is set for whatever song that follows. It shows you can do quiet stuff, and you can rock as well.

Sorry, that was pretty bad. I agree it's a great opener - I've never seen them open a show with it but I was right up front one time on the Together Alone tour when they opened the encore with it. It was awesome, Neil came walking out by himself strumming the chords - stalking the stage with this wild kind of look in his eye while the rest of the band kind of sauntered to their places - Neil just kept going with that chord progression, walking around, looking at us. It had a very cool menacing build.

Hey, I just had a belated great idea for the opener. Too late no doubt, but you should have some 13-year old prodigy wander onstage with an acoustic and crack the assembled crowd soundly between the eyes with "Platform Three" or one of the other earliest ever Finn-penned songs. Something that gives 'em all an idea of how long he's been doing it and how great he was at the start.

EDIT: Cancel that - I didn't realize the songs are all being played by the main guy involved. Obviously no need to step off theme on that one.
