I always thought that Knights were originally spun from White Satin. Eeker

Well, if you can have a Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Elton John & Sir Mixalot, why not a Sir Neil Finn. But surely it would be Sir Corneilius Finn? Why should vulcanologists be denied a Knighthood!

Tim strikes me as more of your Lord type than your typical knight. Lord Brian Timothy Fortesque Finn, Earl of Roto-Rua.

Anyone for Sir Dave Dobbin? No?
Lady Madonna perhaps? Confused

I'd go for Sir Dave Dobbyn - long as he doesn't have to change his name! He can't change his name.

He's been out he's been out in the desert too long.

Like David Bowie would be perfect, for instance (or has he already got one?).

I agree that that it wouldn't suit Neil. As for David Bowie, he's already turned down a CBE — Commander of the British Empire — and was quoted as saying he would never accept a knighthood....

I would never have any intention of accepting anything like that. I seriously don't know what it's for. It's not what I spent my life working for.

It's not my place to make a judgment on Jagger, it's his decision. But it's just not for me.

Am I anti-monarchy? I'd only have a serious answer to that if I was living in this country.

Apparently 2% of the 3000 people awarded knighthood each year refuse. Most do so quietly, but poet Benjamin Zephaniah announced it was because the title reminded him of "thousands of years of brutality." With respect to Mick Jaggers delighted acceptance in 2003, Keith Richards called the title a disgrace and told Mick it was a paltry honor. Actor John Cleese is another famous celeb who has rejected the honor.

I think they should knight James Bond. I mean, come on. All he's done for them over the last 50 years or so.

And the guy looks incredible for a man his age!

Failing that, for the next James Bond outing (after Quantum of Solace) they should cast a Kiwi. I think Neil Finn has the necessary cold eye and steely charm. And I guarantee he looks smashing in a tux.

Gawd, could you imagine it? He'd have an outfit for it and all. Razzer

Dobbyn might not be due a knighthood but he deserves a listen to - very unappreciated musician.
