I was in this music store in Queens Street yesterday and came across this book about Crowded House. The first few pages were about Split Enz. One page I read siad that The Enz went to see there manager and tell him that the Enz were going to Split and do 1 more record with out Tim and a NZ/OZ tour with Tim and that would be it. Neil left the meeting first and drove home. On his way way home a car smashed into his car. Neil was not hurt,which is good as over the next 20 years we get great music from Neil Crowded House Neil Finn solo the Finn Brothers.

Yep, there were actually 2 books written about Crowded House.

And now I think a new book needs to be written..... Crowded House: The Second Storey

I remember that story! As I recall it was quite amusing the way that Neil told it. The other members of the band kept driving by without realizing it was Neil involved in the crash. I believe Neil said the cop or whoever with him on the side of the road thought he must have gotten a concussion, because as each car drove past, Neil would say, "that's my friend driving by!"

I clicked on this link straight away thinking he was in a recent car crash but thankfully he is safe and sound

Neil took that event to be something of a prophecy, and how could it not be? There was so much symbolism involved with what happened.

Ahhhh I actually know about this.
I heard it on the last ep of Enzology.

I thought it was cute how Paul, Eddie, Nigel & Noel drove past & Neil was saying "their my friends!" and the people not believing him.

I think I read somewhere a million years ago or so that this was the inspiration for the lyric "Ghost cars on the freeway/Like friends that you thought you had/One by one they are disappearing."
