Since it appears there isn't going to be any CH shows other than the festival dates any time soon, I'm hereby launching my official campaign for 7WCII Aussie show(s). I figure as far as consolation prizes go it's a good one. Maybe around May??

In the Crowdies section of the forum Songwriter has written an open letter singing the praises of Florida, so I shall follow his/her example.

In Melbourne in May we have:
1. Me
2. Wilco.

Come on, just tell me who I have to kill/sleep with to make it happen and consider it done. Don't make use the words "Melbourne" and "neglected" in the same breath.

I spent half a day last week emailing peeps requesting/suggesting/expressing interest in the doco film/dvd (and of course hoping hoping hoping some kind of live show can go with it) maybe not 'people in power'so to speak but getting interest out there and you never know who may have connections to people with connections in the right places....I've tried before and heck I'm trying again

I'll walk to Melbourne if I have to (and yes, I am quite serious....I've faced tougher 'battles' before)

I don't think it's something 'highly likely' to happen (this year at least)but trying what I can to keep the interest alive

Is that the best you can do Wisey? Razzer
Melbourne is also the hometown of Glenn Richards who appeared on the album, but not in the live shows. I wonder what he is up to in May?

Melbourne, Sydney or ...Perth If it ever happens I will be there Big Grin

No, it's not the best I can do, I'm leaving myself somewhere to go later. This is a campaign, meaning I intend to keep it ongoing. If I put all my best material in the first post, any future posts will look really poxy.

What are Augie March up to at the moment? Are they "on a break"?? Why didn't Glenn play at the live shows? Let's see who can come up with the best conspiracy theory as to why he didn't play live (facts or reason ineligable to enter).

My suggestion... Glenn ate the last chocolate biscuit backstage before they went on, that Jeff Tweedy had dibs on. Jeff cracked it and told Neil it was either him or Glenn, and Neil went with Jeff as he has huge man-crush on him, whereas Glenn is a good mate who would forgive Neil eventually. It would probably take a year for Glenn to get over it, which is why the Aussie concerts have had to wait this long. They just started talking again when Neil sent Glenn a hamper for christmas, so a May concert would really help heal the rift. It will be tense at the shows between Glenn and Jeff, but that will just translate into them trying to outdo each other and make an awesome concert. Neil has learnt his lesson and has no bicuits backstage this time.

Whats that you said?? Too much time on my hands??

Too much time on your hands; maybe; too few biscuits, definitely.

My understanding is that there will be further screenings of the feature length 'The Sun Came Out' at other film festivals. If that's the case then a further 7WCII concert is a possibility.

I'm assuming, given we've had more than our fair share of Finn happenings in the past 6 months, that the UK will be bypassed.

The Sydney Film Festival is in June, so that's not a possibility. The Perth festival's going on at the moment so assume that's off the list.......what about Melbourne in July?

I'm aiming for May, don't know if there's a film festival then or not, since Wilco are already here then.

Simple maths. There was about 15 people who took to the stage at the Auckland concerts, 4 of which were members of Wilco. We would have Neil, and as a father he can order Liam and Elroy to appear, and they must comply (doesn't work for my dad, but he's not as cool as Neil). Don and Bic are only in NZ, probably just twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next concert.

That makes 9 without having to call in too many favours. Obviously more of a stretch to get Ed and Phil, which is a shame because staring at Ed makes me happy. Not sure about Jonny, KT, Lisa and Sebastian, but surely they can't ALL be busy. Anyway, we will have Glenn Richards instead. And most importantly me. AKA the centre of the world.

Not sure if Johnny going to be keen on making the long trek downunder again in May given he's down this way with The Cribs at the moment (seeing them and Johnny on Saturday Big Grin woohoo).

Sounds like a great idea to give Aussie a go at the Seven Worlds experience since you guys seem to be getting a bit of a raw deal since the UK and US have had a shot and they're much further away for Neil.

Been emailing again today, including someone I got a reply from before, asking if they need a 'helper' in any way, shape or form

I have time, I have 2 hands and I'll do it for free(naturally)

or I could just wait to win lotto and buy my own cinema/festival/concert hall and invite it to be screened there

My theory:

It was a lovely warm new years eve in Piha, and some of the greatest musicians in the world were enjoying a BBQ. Children were playing, the women were organising salads and the blokes were cooking tusseling over the tongs at the barbie. Much alcohol had been consumed, which was all jolly earlier in the night, but later things started to get a bit agro.

Started out innocently enough with a game of scrabble. However tensions came to a head when Glenn Richards put down "Jebus". Johnny Marr was the first to call him on it, thats bullsh*t he said. Glenn argued since it was in the Simpsons, ergo it was real word, and Glenn Kotche backed him up (Glenns of the world always stick together).

Neil could see where it was heading and said he was bored with the game and they should all go for a skinny dip. Ed Obrien said "A bunch of blokes skinny dipping together? What are you, gay?". Glenn R replied "Jebus loves everyone, whether they're gay or straight".

This was too much for Johnny, who flipped the board and tiles went everywhere. Sharon came in to see what the noise was and also became very anygry, said there was no way in hell she was picking up all those little tile pieces. Glenn R was furious Jonny was acting so immature and threw a (rather lame drunk) punch at Johnny. It quickly turned into an all in brawl, with the exception of Jeff Tweedy who no one was game to throw a punch at.

It was decided afterwards that as Glenn R had thrown the first punch, he should be asked to leave. He was upset, but also slightly ashamed of his behaviour so didn't argue too much. As Johnny Marr is unlikely to be at the Australian shows (as Black and White pointed out he's here now), the coast should be all clear for Glenn R to play.

Well Sharon got someone to pick those scrabble tiles up, and then made a rather beautiful lady frame out of them.

I have opened a 'fan page' on Facebook in support of the 7 Worlds II doco being screened in OZ (with live show too in an ideal world) and a dvd (I live in hope) please feel free to join if you would like

I actually made one earlier yesterday but then realised I had set it up all wrong so I needed to delete it and create the new unofficial/general discussion page one

If you're on Facebook a search for 7 Worlds should do the trick (7 Worlds Collide II For OZ)

There's also a facebook group for the DVD, rather out of date title of "All I want for christmas is the 7 worlds collide 2 DVD". I guess by the time it actually happens, it probably will be for next chrissie. Or maybe the one after. Or possibly 2020...

Since my chloroform/rope idea has been dismissed (stupid laws), does anyone have any dirt on any of the participants that we could blackmail them into an Oz concert with? No... I'm not above this.

In regards to the DVD... I found this interview with Neil on the Radio NZ site the other day... I'm not sure if this has been posted before... but I'll repost in case it hasn't... There is stuff about the DVD around 23:40.... apparently it's down to budget and a few other things... let's just hope they get the budget Smiler
